JoBParticipantkootch…
that environmental balancing act has returned rivers to a condition equal or worse than they were when we cleaned them up in the lat 60s early 70s.
it seems the buck has a lot more weight than public health when it comes to the conservative notion of environmental balance

c@lbobMemberYou mean the kind of balance Dick Cheney gave us behind closed doors when his energy bill exempted oil and gas companies from the Safe Drinking Water Act? Defanging the EPA from even investigating whether people’s wells were contaminated by hydraulic fracturing on steroids, or fracking?
Racists don’t care if they’re called racists, I get it. Might as well wear it as a badge of honor, they do it so well. As one white guy to another, stop whining about your priviliged place in society. There are tens of millions of people in this free country who are routinely subjected to barriers to participation and advancement you or I would raise the roof over.
Voter registration is this country is a matter handled by local authorities – counties mainly. It is odd for someone in Washington to be concerned over a local matter to New York, St. Louis or Chicago. Federal voter rights laws didn’t start or prolong ward politics, that have been going on for centuries now. Here in the West, where our political ancestors did much to reform the role of the parties in our elections, the efforts of some to cast doubt on the voter roles has been laughable. The outcome of Lori Sotelo’s bogus attack on voter registrations in 2005 is a case in point:
King County Canvassing Board Rejects Majority of Republican Challenges of Voter Registrations
But, I’m not following you down every rat hole you traverse. GATT, the WTO and IMF are anti-democratic cabals that need some French Revolution type of curtailment. We should use drones on the meeting places of these economic terrorists.

redblackParticipantyeah. you’ll excuse me if i don’t cheer-lead for disaster capitalism, kootch. i don’t want to follow chile down that path any farther than we already have.
it was von hayek’s economic theories and scorched earth politics by republicans that got us here, kootch, and you’re advocating for more of the same.
what makes you think that milton friedmann, reagan, thatcher, and greenspan will magically and miraculously be proven correct this time around?

kootchmanMemberBedtime stories. We don’t care about the leftist claptrap… they cry racist at every turn as if it has merit. We don’t care because there is nothing inherently racist about being a conservative. I sure would love to see the system you have in mind to replace the wealth that capitalism provides. Care to show me one that does? Any country say over… 250 million that provides as much per capita income? You can’t because there is none. From it comes the surplus you so rely on. You blame a system that has more opportunity than any in the world… the ladder goes up and it goes down. It’s not a guaranteed outcome world. We’ve watched the world tinker with socialism, too Messr. redblack… with little success. As you yourself said so many times… ” I chose not to be a capitalist” (biz owner) .. fine , but that was your choice. Wish we had RR again.. and with a Tea Party Congress… we would be on sound footing indeed.

kootchmanMemberNo takers? I’ll change.. convert, .. show me the system that generates more surplus for a population this large with this many demands placed on it.

JanSParticipantyou ay yu don’t care about the leftist craptrap…now tell us how you feel about the rightwing claptrap :)
February 5, 2012 at 5:47 pm #744353
waynsterParticipantJan….. kootch will only tose out that the rightwing claptrap is resistant to types of shots that will fix it self as it falls in to the abyss of the rich religous morale zelots who think they can cure anything on the backs of the middle class and the poor…. oh and that safety net they talk about so well.

JiggersMemberThe Republicans are nothing but liars. I tried to watch Roundtable TV this morning because the community TV was set on that channel. I puked. They are so full of hot air saying they want to improve the economy…lol They were the very ones between 2000 and 2008 who tanked it. The country was already in turmoil when Obama took office. If the Republicans gain control of office, our country won’t improve again in our lifetime. The Republicans only care about personal gain. Poor Obama. Damned if he does..damned if doesn’t. Too bad we have no one better than Romney or Obama to vote for. We are being shammed.

JoBParticipantkootchman..
I agree, there is nothing inherently racist about being a conservative
but that doesn’t mean we should ignore racism in conservative candidates, does it?
February 5, 2012 at 6:09 pm #744356
JoBParticipantkootch…
this system generates surplus
but only a small percentage of it’s citizens can take advantage of that bounty.
it’s time we stopped measuring our national economic health by corporate profit
and started measuring it by the mean income and living standards of it’s people.

kootchmanMemberGod bless the good heart of some liberals… DPB can rise to great heights from time to time. I remember the great Gregoire budget scam around Christmas… some posted there was fat yet to be cut in the state budget before levying more taxes in a state that is rapidly losing it’s competitive edge. I give you this.. until the state takes reform and modern management seriously and provides services efficiently… no mas. You should be more enraged that the good faith and heart of the taxpayer is abused over and over again with the large garping maw of a ceaseless state appetite for revenue.
Since 2006, the state of Washington has paid more than 1,000 state employees to stay at home at taxpayer expense. That has cost taxpayers $13.5 million for the employees’ salaries and $3.7 million more in benefits, for a total of $17.2 million.
Let’s go revisit those budget cuts… and this is only one example. Of course we will hear… it’s “peanuts” of no “real” consequence. Your public unions at work.

oh noes!!
Santos said that’s changing now. As a result of KING 5’s first story in the “Paid for Nothing” series, the Governor sent out a directive to all state agencies. It instructs agencies to track home assignments and to report the data to Santos. It also directs them to get permission from top agency leadership if a home assignment needs to last more than 15 days.
problem solved! thanks, governor chris!
move along. nothing to see here.
