JeannieParticipantLooking for a shop that could repair my torn leather handbag, I found a couple of West Seattle places on Yelp. They are Choi’s and Admiral Shoe Repair. Anyone know if they are one and the same place, or two different places? Addresses appear to be the same. Are they still in business?

HappyOnAlkiParticipantI took leather sandals to Admiral Shoe Repair and they did an amazing job — even fixing something that I didn’t realize was about to break — for a very reasonable cost. And seems like a very nice person as well. I will go there again in a heartbeat. (BTW, I did a quick look on Yelp — the Choi’s I saw was on 35th.)

JeannieParticipantThanks, Happy! I’ll check them out this week.

dobroParticipantAnother great leather repair option is the shoe repair guy on Fauntleroy next to Rudy’s Barbershop. I don’t know the name of the shop but I’ve had him do some things for me and he was quick, reasonably priced, and a nice guy.

jissyParticipantYes! To Admiral Shoe repair, that guy is amazing and has very good prices. My husband buys dress shoes very infrequently b/c he has them resoled and polished and they come back looking brand new with more life in them.

WSPKParticipantI recently had a terrible experience with Admiral Shoe Repair. I brought in a pair of dress shoes in which the upper had started to separate from the sole. It seemed like a simple enough glue job…. He pointed out that the heels were somewhat worn and recommended recapping them; total cost $74 with tax.
I got them home, wore them once or twice and realized that the upper was still (again?) separating from the soles. ‘Took them back in and he insisted it was “New Broke!” and charged me another $14 to fix them again. When I got them back the second time, before wearing them, I saw that there was still separation and brought them in again. He again insisted there was new damage and wanted to charge me yet again for repairing the shoes. I left in disgust, with my shoes.
Never going back and I would not recommend him. -
