My lung infections are getting better. The main problem is my oxygen levels. Ever since had stomach surgery almost two years ago, I’ve noticed that I have worsened in my breathing patterns. Over winter time it progressed and eventually I wound up in the hospital with blood clots in my lungs along with other goodies currently. I have always had problems, but this is new stuff for me. As soon as I start walking up and down the hospital hallway, it drops to 75. This is how I feel when I m outside on the streets. I thought it was my stomach and hernia giving me breathing problems which very well could be added with the blood clotting. The doctors job is to make sure the infections are gone in my lungs and then I can be dischrged since the threat has been taken care of. No answers for my low oxygen levels. It’s going to suck and I’m going to continue sucking wind..Wooot! Anyways, it’s no one elese problem but mines.Any Doctors here?

For those that are unfamiliar with where a healthy persons blood oxygen saturation should be; when Jiggers’ sats hit 75, that’s pretty damn low.

Normal sats should be at least 92, preferably 95, or above, ideally 98-99.

Sorry that your health is not good. Just wanted to mention Qigong ( or chi gong). It might be something that would help in a slow recovery of lung function. The other would be some erythropoietin related meds that will boost your red blood cells. But you don’t mention that red blood cells are a problem? I’m not an M.D. I’m just throwing out some options based on not knowing anything about your medical history/condition.

I have red blood cell problems and have never produced natural anti-bodies in my life.

jiggers..I’m so sorry. I have had low red blood cell counts for years because my kidneys can’t produce erythropoietin. It’s common when kidneys have failed. So…I can sympathize how you feel. Hemoglobin has been as low as 6.6, as high as twelve…I get two shots a week of epogen. I hope they can figure this out for you. It sucks to be that tired and sucking for breath all the time.

    sending hugs your way…

jiggers.. i am glad to hear that you are feeling at least a little better but not so glad to hear that you are not breathing better as a result.

Hope you have a speedy, off the wall recovery, just like some of your posts here on the blog. Yeah, you’ve ticked me off a couple times, but that’s no a bad thing! lol

Get well and back on task here at the WS blog!

Jiggers, you gonna be up for a visitor tomorrow (Sat) morning around 9:00 am?

It’s now just before 8:00 Friday evening, and I likely won’t get back online until about 6:00 tomorrow morning.

jiggers emailed me this morning to say that as much as he likes company.. he’s just not up to it today.

he is having some testing done that .. cross your fingers … might provide an answer as to why his infections are going away but he is still not breathing well…

but all this attention is wearing him out.

Jiggers, I don’t personally know you but I certainly hope you start feeling better and get your breathing problem taken care of. Take care. Rich

Rich, you know Jiggers personally, through the Forums. You just haven’t met him face to face yet! ;-)

Jiggers, as I mentioned in the e-mail, you have a lot of people here in the Forums that care about you, and are pulling for you, even if you’ve never met them face to face. Rich, and the others that have posted words of encouragement here, and on other threads, are proof of that.

I know I’ve appreciated the support of this community, and group of great friends, as you likely do as well.

    Take care,

    Mike

Thanks Mike. They found a small shunt in me during yesterday’s Echocardiogram test which could be related to my breathing issues as well. They are discussing though if they need to operate on me or not. Ugghh the weather is nice this weekend and I am in the hospital still. I would have gone camping on Bainbridge Island for sure if I werem’t sick. I do that every summer here.

Jiggers: good to see you back (posting in another thread). I, like pigeonmom have been wondering how you are/if you are around.
