    Hello West Seattle Bloggers,

I’m planning a winter wedding in W Sea and I’m trying to choose a photographer. Has anyone used the Pros? And if so can you share your reviews?

BTW ~ thank you to everyone who suggested a caterer. I found Mimi who also lives in West Seattle. Perfect!

    Cheers!

Are you talking about the same company that is based out of PA (they also do DJ and video)? If so, I used to work for them as a videographer and DJ and later an assistant branch manager in Tampa Bay from 1999-2005.

The final choice is yours but I would STRONGLY suggest you not use them. I don’t want to get into too much bashing so I’ll just say that along the East coast, where they first started out, they are commonly known as the Wal Mart of the wedding industry.

Also, I would recommend going with a smaller local photog. First, because you’ll be supporting a local business instead of your money ending up at a corp headquarters on the other side of the country. Second, you have a better chance of building a good rapport with him/her. And in a lot of cases the photog is the owner of the company so you know their pride will be in their work. And finally, if you do have any type of issue or complaint (where’s my pictures, photographer was late or unprofessional, etc), it’s better to be able to deal with a smaller company as opposed to being on hold for who knows how long or have to leave a message for someone to hopefully call you back. The little guy cares more about BBB reports than a big company.

Whatever you choose, I wish you the best.

Thank you In2theKnight! I don’t know anything about them but yes, they do offer video and DJs, I have their card from the Seattle wedding show. Wedding pictures are too important to trust to just anyone. I will keep looking. Thanks again!

My favorite wedding photographer in Seattle is Jenny Jimenez. http://www.photojj.com/blog/

    Also great, Sean Flanigan: http://www.seanflaniganphotography.com/

    Benj Haisch: http://benjhaisch.com/

    Airika and Gerald Pope: http://www.geraldpope.com/

I don’t know what your budget is, and you certainly don’t need to put that out here on the forum, but I thought you might be interested in checking out my favorites. Perhaps it will help you figure out what kind of photographer you are looking for to capture your big day. Good luck with the search!

If you already have some services booked (DJ, caterer, venue, etc) you can always ask them for suggestions. There’s a couple advantages to that…

    1) if you are already their client and they recommend a photog to you, they’re probably not going to just recommend anyone since their name is on that recommendation. If who they suggest is bad, then it reflects back on them.

    2) whoever they recommend is most likely going to be a photographer or company they’ve worked previous events with so the 2 will already know how it is working with each other. It’s not something to worry too much about but every once in a great while you may have a DJ that doesn’t have the best communication with the photographer (ex: DJ starts the cake cutting while the photographer is still in the bathroom), or a photographer that doesn’t see eye to eye with the videographer (ex: they both want to shoot from the same spot), etc. I’ve only seen it happen a small handful of times in all the years I was in the biz so like I said, it’s not something to worry too much about since 99% of those with longevity in the industry are professionals and able to play nice, but it is something that can be cut down on if you at least look into 1 or 2 of their suggestions.
