mannamcParticipantAbout 7:45pm a young man knocked on my door wearing an orange safety vest and a Comcast coat (I’m in 37th and Dakota vicinity). I poked my head out of the door on the upper level deck above him to see what he wanted. He said he was doing a “service call.” He asked if my husband was home (his name is the main one on the account). My husband was not home, but I did not say so. He tried to ask several questions about our service, I kept telling him we would call them if we had concerns. He was not aggressive, but had already freaked out my dogs & young child.
After calling Comcast and voicing my concern, I was put on some sort of “Do Not Knock” list and they assured me they will not be back. I am pretty sure he was legit, but wanted to pass along the info about the list.

nighthawkParticipantThis happened to me a while ago. Basically trying to get you to upgrade to the full service with phone and all that.

CarsonParticipantThere is something fishy about the Comcast sales pitch. We don’t have a home phone, but we do have Cable TV and Internet with Comcast. The sales rep tried to sell us that if we added the home phone, our overall bill would be less. I said that makes no sense at all, why would my bill go DOWN if I added a phone I would never use? Why can’t you just lower my bill in the first place? Its bad enough I have to call every 6 months and threaten to go to Direct TV and Clear just to keep the pricing reasonable…I so wish they had some real competition here.

luckymom30ParticipantWe have the bundle cable tv, Internet and digital phone with Comcast and yes we do pay less for the Internet with the bundle package. We got our bill down to $119.00 for all 3 services, if we were to cut the phone or cable tv we would pay more. Nice to have unlimited long distance.

CarsonParticipantIt defies all logic. I just wish they didn’t play the games with pricing. Just another reason to dump them as soon as its possible, whenever that day comes….also, I didn’t mean pay less for internet. They claim I would pay less for cable, internet and phone, if I added the phone, than I am currently paying for just cable tv and internet right now!

beaglenutMemberI didn’t like Comcast when I had them… The only reason we didn’t get DirectTV was due to restricted airpace for a dish at our apartment. We moved into a house and have DirectTV/Qwest now and I couldn’t be happier. Just my 2 cents…

ahmomParticipantmannamc- i just followed your lead and called comcast to ask to be put on their ‘do not knock list’. i was told that no such list exists because comcast hires a 3rd party to go door-to-door, Comcast can’t control whose door they knock on. one more reason to dislike comcast.

mpentoParticipantthis is just more of the same bad customer service from comcast. No need to read but it can be kinda funny when it happens to someone else I guess. Enjoy.
Here is what just happened to me this evening. An older gentleman with the flourescent waistcoat and comcast id stuff rings my doorbell. I answered the door. Hi you are XXX? I reply, Yes I am and I believe the last time someone from comcast called to my door I requested that you DO NOT call to my home. Response mmmmm doesn’t show that here. You need to call comcast and request that. I say OK well I’m not interested. Thanks. Response. You sure you don’t want to add the phone to you bundle for…. I close the door. I call comcast I hit 4 on the menu selection for change of service/downgrade. I get a message our business hours are 8am-8pm, no-one is here please call back during business hours. I guess they don’t mention time zone but it was not 8pm yet. I call again and hit 3 on the menu for service transfer/upgrade. Please wait on the line your wait time is 1 min. 15 seconds later. Hi I’m xxx how can I help you? I reply I just had someone from comcast call to my door and I believe I requested that this not happen. She says let me check, yes it shows privacy requested. No one should be calling to your door. When did this happen? I reply about 10 min ago. Comcast replies well I will contact the supervisor to have them relate that this should not have happened and they will give you a call. I say no I don’t want someone calling me. What would they call me for? Comcast replies to apologise. (Side note does anyone else see the annoying irony in this?) So I ask can I get some email or written confirmation about the privacy preference. Comcast replies No I’m not authorised to do that. I ask so would the supervisor be able to do that? Comcast replies no they would just call to apoligise. Is there anything else I can help you with? I ask so if the status of my account was changed would I get an email confirming this. Comcast replies yes BUT your account status was NOT CHANGED. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH? I say yes what is your name again. Comcast reples xxx. I ask if I need to identify you? Comcast replies with a code. I needed the letters identified. Comcast gives me that and I will have the supervisor call you. Ireply NO. I DO NOT WANT TO GET A CALL IS THAT CLEAR. Comcast IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH!!! I say what do you think? The end. or the end? The words etc are not exact. I don’t think we were shouting but some change of tone was noticable. So what can I do? How can I hurt comcast in a slow painful and horrific way? What should I do the next time comcast comes calling?

kParticipanthonestly, don’t answer the door. i am shocked that companies still feel door to door is the answer. it’s not. times aren’t like they used to be. maybe if more people didn’t answer, they would stop this way of sales. just a thought.

BlendParticipantthe best is when my husband answers the door in his underwear eating a slice of pizza and farts. They stand there stunned and forget what they are supposed to say. Sometimes it’s just fun to mess with those people. hehe.

JoelMemberThey stopped by my place also, really annoying… The young lady asked about our phone service. In any case, I wasn’t impressed by her 3 male friends waiting in the car at the end of the driveway. I was positive that they were casing our place, but you never know. They are cruising around our ‘hood today, I reported to the cops, just in case.
