JoBParticipantI live in the Westwood area and last night once again the peace of our home was shattered by some @@@@@@@@ who exercised his or her freedom to shoot of fireworks in the middle of the night.
I wouldn’t mind.. the booms aren’t enough to unsettle me.. but my poor pup is losing a long battle with cancer and they literally terrified her.. which terrified the other pup.
I don’t know if you have ever held a dog that is so terrified that their eyes are rolling back in their head or not.. but if you have you know there is no way a knockout pill is going to touch that reality.
thanks to some @@@@@@@@ our house didn’t get much sleep last night and a dog that should feel safe in her home is quaking at the sound of the bathroom door.
I am sure there is a special hell for people who have so little concern for others.. but i confess that this morning i am glad i don’t know who this @@@@@@ is because i doubt i would be willing to wait to let Karma take it’s toll.

WSBKeymasterWhat time was it? We have two reports of “gunshots or fireworks?” from last night/early today, all in the wee hours. One person said they called it in to 911 and was reminded that it’s Lunar New Year. However, there is one police call overnight that for whatever reason (I won’t be able to get the report before tomorrow) earned the label “person with gun” in 7900 block 11th SW. Still a ways east of you, I know, but sound carries in the early hours … TR

JoBParticipantthe fireworks were after 11 PM.. i don’t know exactly what time since i was in bed reading….
and i am pretty sure they were fireworks not gunshots…
someone in our neighborhood has done this for years..but they used to limit themselves to using up their store of fireworks after the 4th.. one a night on weekends until they were gone.
Now it seems that almost anything is an excuse to set them off and it is literally terrorizing not only my dogs but others in the neighborhood as well… not to mention the vet that lives down the street.
I would gladly move to where they are illegal.. but i thought i had already done that.

wsea98116ParticipantThank you for your tireless work speaking out against unreasonable fireworks, on behalf of terrified dogs and vets, and then restraining yourself from harming those terrorizing cads (even though they most certainly deserve it).

JoBParticipantit turns out that hubby saw the fireworks go up from the back yard.. whoever was setting them off was doing so from the soccer fields above the SW Community Center.
i think it’s a good thing hubby didn’t tell me where they were coming from because robe and all i think i would have been out that door to give those kids a piece of my mind.
there were more last night but i think those must have been a more formalized show because they went on for some time. they were far enough away that i could turn on the television to disguise the sound.. at midnight.. but at least i didn’t have a dog trying to fight their way out of my arms.

AJPParticipantHappy Lunar New Year! There was a big show in the ID and then just random people celebrating around town.
