Police are just now being dispatched to a crash scene in the 6700 block of West Marginal, though it happened more than an hour ago. A driver hit and knocked down a tree, according to dispatch and a tip we received. Dispatch tells officers that the driver’s parent picked them up and took them to an emergency room; the car is still there, though police are now calling for a tow.
Drove by and did not look good – car crossed from southbound to hit tree on east side/northbound lane. Car was blocking part of northbound lane – hopefully police have arrived to make the scene safe.
Passed this earlier. Just a cone in the road, and then a car halfway in the right lane. People routinely go 50-60 mph even though the speed limit is 30. Then they go 10 under on the freeway and bridge? Surprised it took that long for someone to call SPD, but I was apart of the problem for assuming people cared. Hope the driver is ok, and either increase the speed limit on this road or enforce the speed limit.
I actually witnessed this and called 911 immediately but they didn’t show up for a long time, driver was ok. Car actually didn’t cross, it was going north and went into the trees.
My son witnessed this accident and said a semi truck ran him off the road. Maybe I should call police to report this? He did not think it was the small car’s fault. He said it was very scary to see the truck do that.
Really amazing that the driver walked away from that, the car was practically bent in half.
