HomerParticipantAny one else get those “burglary notices” from the police department on their porches and get frustrated with the lack of information they give you regarding the style of “attack”? I’m not saying I need to know the house that it happened to, but in general, what type of item was stolen, was it at night or day time, was there forced entry or was a door/window left unlocked or open?
I think this would be incredibly useful to have included in that flyer so we have real knowledge on how to better protect ourselves/houses.
Okay, stepping down from my soapbox now….gotta watch my step, it’s a big drop! ;-)

WSBKeymasterPlease give that feedback to Benjamin Kinlow at Southwest Precinct Crime Prevention, if you haven’t already. His contact info:

Also, though it’s not a perfect solution, more and more crimes that happen are being reported to us and we pass along those reports – they are linked on the Crime Watch page and you can use the search box to see what comes up for specific street numbers.

johnnyblegsMemberWhere do you live Homer? I got one a couple days ago and I thought that it was referring to the purse that was stolen from our home a couple Sundays ago. Both my wife and I were in the house with the door open. I was really happy to see the notice on our front porch. I’ve never seen that before and it was a great way to get the word out and make all of my neighbors aware to be on the look out for themselves and their neighbor. It looks like just a generic leaflet with no particular info on the offense. If you live on 39th & Oregon we should get together and start a block watch program.

HomerParticipantHi Johnnyblegs, thanks for the info and the scary part is, nope, I don’t live near your area so it must have been a separate incident. In fact, we’ve had two flyers on our porch in the past two weeks! Sorry for your loss and the loss of safety you might feel, I really hate not being able to leave my door open and unlocked while upstairs or something. Great idea with the block watch….I just really wish we got better info on these things like exactly what you posted here…door unlocked, purse stolen, no one hurt, etc.
Per Lowmanbeach’s recommendation, I will be emailing Benjamin Kinlow as it’s always helpful to hear feedback from the community.

shihtzuParticipantWe got one too. 53rd on Genessee Hill. It is kind of vague. It says the burglary was on our block, but I think I would have heard about it…
