    I’ve been on the apartment hunt for a few months now and was wondering if people had any other suggestions on how to find a good apartment. Looking for a reasonable 2 bedroom and craigslist has never worked very well. Too much spam :(

    Any ideas? I’ve tried using Zillow too sometimes, but still haven’t found anything..

    Work with a real estate agent! Agents have access to the MLS, which means they can see listings that don’t necessarily pop up on craigslist :) The best part is, YOU don’t even have to pay them! Their commission comes from the landlord so there’s really nothing to lose. I’m an agent and I would be happy to do a search for you if you like! Please feel free to email me at myagentmadison@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you!

    Google property management companies in Seattle. Often they’re affiliated with real estate companies, not always. They don’t typically post on Craigslist and you’re more likely to find rental houses/duplexes as opposed to the onslaught of cheap complexes on CL.

    Walking, biking, running…I keep alerting my friends of rentals that pop up in my neighborhood, and they tell me that these are not on CL. I know that’s hard if you’re trying to do the search from afar. You can enlist blog readers, too.

    @madisong I just sent you an email.

    The main problem is that the price range I’m aiming for is lower than most of the current market rates. We got super lucky with our current place, but the poor level of maintenance and management is definitely supporting why the price is so low…

    I found my current place via PadMapper (https://www.padmapper.com/). You can really nail down the search criteria, including where to pull data from (Craigslist, PadLister, Apartments.com, etc).

    @lazybeard Thank you!

    I had never heard of padmapper, but it definitely is convenient. I’ll have to check it again next week once people have to start giving their notices to buildings. Right now there isn’t much to look at.
