I drive frequently down Beach Drive and I’ve been really sad to see how bad the road is when you start going through the Seaview area where you can’t see the water anymore. (hopefully I’m describing the location ok) It’s really bad north of the Lowman Beach Park. Is there any plan on repaving the road? It’s already hard to drive with cyclists (which doesn’t bother me) but to have such a horrible road it makes it even more dangerous. Does anyone know anything about this stretch of road and if there are plans to repave anytime soon?

    Thanks!

That stretch of the road has been bad for awhile and hopefully the city will address it sometime soon……..don’t see anything on there website or 2009 project map (http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/constructionmap/)

As someone from the Northeast, where they seem like they’re constantly resurfacing roads, I’m astonished at how bad the street surfaces are here and how long they let them go without remedy. Don’t even get me started about the I-5 and its 40 year-old pavement that produces a deafening roar when you drive over it. It makes driving the Mass Pike (Boston’s end of Route 90) seem like driving on a cloud.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the city leaves beach drive like that so they don’t have to put in speed bumps.
