Jks3369ParticipantSo we are new to the area and are wanting to head out for a day trip with our 5 &1.5 year old. Any tips? Places to go – things to do?!

NikiSParticipantOh Bainbridge is awesome, we just took my mom there for Mother’s Day–we mostly tend to walk around Winslow and eat, so maybe this isn’t quite all of what you’re looking for, but my favorite food spots are Blackbird Bakery, Mora Iced Creamery, and Harbor Public House (pub-style food, but really excellent and lovely patio with a cool boardwalk area that leads from it that you can walk while looking at boats and the water). I believe there are also trails and parks on the island etc, but I don’t know as much about those (looking to explore more of that next). If you are driving, you can drive around and throughout, it’s pretty hilly and there are some lovely gardens (it’s the home of an annual garden show). And of course the ferry ride over and back can be a fun time on its own.
For kids activities in general since you are new to the area I’d recommend checking out Red Tricycle–full of events and ideas: redtri.com/seattle-kids/
Hope that helps, happy travels!

JiggersMemberDrive ten miles on the 305 up to Poulsbo, even better. Downtown Poulsbo is a good place to go shopping and lots of places to eat. There’s also the waterfront park there too.. I always go there..

JoBParticipantfor once, jiggers and i agree..
i always find myself traveling on to Poulsbo
you can rent paddle boats and pontoon boats there for a ride on the water.. and the park across the inlet is perfect for younger kids…

Myr-myrParticipantBainbridge Island’s KidiMu will be open very soon. Special events are planned even before the official opening. Opt for walking onto the ferry. KidiMu and downtown Winslow are an easy stroll from the ferry. A caution about driving over on a holiday weekend. The queue of cars ferrying back to Seattle is usually more than a mile in length. You may be waiting several hours just to get your car onto the ferry. I learned the hard way.
