susieq29ParticipantAnyone else having lots of dropped calls and crummy service JUST LATELY with AT&T in the Admiral area? Or anywhere else in W. Seattle? Just started about 2 weeks ago and I’ll have 5-6 bars and the call will get warbly and just drop, or just drop. Randomly…..ughhh

shihtzuParticipantWe have. Just about when I’ve had it and get ready to call ATT, it works again. There have been days where I can’t call at all.

dhgParticipantI’ve noticed it. I hit return call, wait a minute and it comes up with “Call Failed”, then retry and it goes through.

FranciParticipantYep, its not just WS either. Its been happening to me all over the city. I have been calling in to listen to an early morning conference call (with a hands free headset), and I consistently get dropped on the viaduct just past the Seneca street exit. I used to be able to get through the tunnel and keep a call, but it drops when I enter the tunnel too.

susieq29ParticipantHuh…glad to know it’s not just me….I think I’ll be calling AT&T about this as just like you Fanci, I use it for calling into conference calls which are landlines so I know it’s MY phone. Not sure why I’m paying so much for this when they can’t even post something on their website saying “we’re doing maintenance/upgrades in your area”. What happened to customer service…anywho, will try to call soon and let you guys know…

herongrrrlParticipantAdd me to the list. In my case, the party I’m speaking with or I will hear a loud, obnoxious static noise, and when it stops I’m usually (but not always) disconnected. I know it’s not my phone because I got a new one (an “unlocked” t-mobile phone, too, not one from AT&T) and it still happens. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

susieq29ParticipantWell, I called AT&T today and found out some info. 25 towers in the region are currently being worked on so this MAY be the cause. Didn’t say what a normal number of towers to be worked on at one time is so this may be normal. She had me turn off my phone, remove my batter and remove my SIM card. Wait 15 seconds, and then put it all back. Seemed better for a bit but then still dropped call.
She said she’s filling out some investigative form, will have some techs out to nearby towers, and then call me back a week from this Monday. She said the more people that call in reporting this problem in the 98116 area code or nearby area codes, the morel likely they can do a deep diagnostics at each of the towers. So, here’s the number…didn’t take too long and I bet it’ll pay off…hope this helps! 1-800-331-0500

service dog academyMemberin all honesty, i HATE my AT&T service. i always get dropped getting from the WS bridge onto i5 south, on 99 right before the tunnel when going north and on 99 getting out of the tunnel going south (just like fanci’s comment above) and right before you hit the 520 bridge going north on 5. im almost ready to sign Oprahs No Phone Zone pledge because i cant use my phone anymore without out being dropped 2 or 3 times.

nighthawkParticipantA friend of mine has AT&T because she wanted an Iphone and hates, hates, hates it. I hate it too because she’ll call me, I’ll miss the call, then call her back and she doesn’t get the call because she moved 10 ft from previous spot. However her phone often shows many bars but yet doesn’t get the call or can’t make it. She isn’t in WS, but QA so it’s not a limited phenomena

CarolPBMemberQueen Anne has horrible cell service-not sure if it is limited to AT&T

jamminjMemberNot in admiral area, but no change in service in Highpoint area. And I have actually been fine with my AT&T service for a few years now. A dead area in auburn when I visit my folks, but overall no problem. I had more drops with my verizon service, but work used to pay for that so I didn’t complain. :)
.
one issue when we first switched, I will no longer buy Samsung phones… they seem to have the most problems. We had two that we had to return due to sound issues.

JasperbluParticipantWe’ve been in West Seattle just over a year now. I have an iPhone (so obviously, I have ATT cell service). And yes, it sucks. It hasn’t gotten any better since I moved here, so I don’t know what to tell you about tower service or not. I will say that if I turn 3G OFF on my iPhone, and just use the Edge network, the phone signal is better. But I’d say ATT cell coverage in Seattle is pretty crappy in general, not just WS (at least not in comparison w/ Los Angeles, where we had good coverage).
Good luck!

bsmommaParticipantNorth Admiral Area is awful for cell service! We’re on 42nd and if you look at a cell service map it’ll say we’re in a “Good” area. California just on the other side of our alley has “Excellent” service. In my opinion it should just say Yes or No. Because we get none. But if you walk out to our aleey we magically have service! It’s been that way with 3 different companies over 10ish years. Sprint even told us we could BUY a little contraption so that we could get service……..that we already pay for!
