I thought that on the 4th of July, there’d be just as many American flags lining the Junction as there were Pride flags last weekend. But the two times I went out today, I didn’t see any American flags. Kind of sad but not surprising considering Seattle’s politics.
Perhaps they were short on volunteers. They were up Memorial Day, with volunteer help, and Flag Day last month, with volunteer help. Contact info for WSJA is at their website http://wsjunction.org if you’d like to check on Labor Day, Veterans Day, etc.
Manderley, maybe you could volunteer to help instead of using your gripe as an excuse to bash Pride Month or assuming that “Seattle politics” has anything to do with it.
Are you thinking the place is too gay and not patriotic enough? Were the rainbow flags just a touch too much? Does it seem like there’s a conflict between rainbow flags vs. US flags? I don’t see it.
I did find it amusing that my home was the only one to fly an American flag on my block, in fact the only one in a 3 block stretch. I’m not even American. An immigrant showed respect to the country more than the home growns.
