hooper1961Memberthe AARP is at it again, i have no issue with them getting the benefits they paid into the system, but on average they are receiving far more in payments/benefits than they paid in. what about our kids and grand kids future? it is time that benefits paid and health care services provided be consistent with payments made into the system.
i do not like rick perry at all but social security and medicare is being run like a ponzi scheme with existing beneficiaries getting more out of the system than they paid in (on average). it is time that benefits provided match what was paid in (on average)

HMC RichParticipantHooper. At least Soc Sec recipients usually have paid into that for most of their working lives. Contrast that with your AARP position and Public Union workers who work for the government for 20 years and then expect to get great benefits for the rest of their lives. Or worse, our elected officials in Washington who get millions after they leave Washington DC. I am certain Tom Foley, Slade Gorton and every other former Senator and Congressman does not deserve what they receive. You want to fix Social Security, make the politicians part of the system again.

kootchmanMemberAARP is making hundreds of millions. See the salaries of the board of directors… but damned if they didn’t take a non profit advocacy group, turn it into an insurance shill, and avoid corporate taxes. Another bundler for The Messiah. Next target..Better Business Bureau… which will be renamed Big Barak Bundler.. BBB. It’s the ability to keep their campaign war chests… that’s the big payola. I guess it’s not an outright bribe if you wait until after you are out of office… tell me again.. the difference between bank bonuses and congressional retirement perks? Neither one gets the job done, and both are so well rewarded for it.

TDeParticipantTo quote Mr. K from a previous post, responding to how much of the wealth of this nation is owned by the top 1%….
“so what, Congratulate them!”
AARP is following the laws just like the wealthy 1% and huge corporations. What’s the difference? And OMG… I agree with HMC Rich about making politicians part of the system the rest of us live under.

JanSParticipantTDe..did you really have to ask that question about KMan? Answer is simple…because he’s allowed to have things both ways…and allowed to write dissertations about both – because he knows better than the rest of us.

TDeParticipantOh.. silly me.

kootchmanMemberAh, the amazing powers of discernment. There are ironies.. like the evil 1%…. unless they are BBB’s… then they aren’t. Hiding behind non-profit status to avoid taxes. That’s the point. oh the WSB rants against religious viewpoints and perspectives as a violation of their non profit status… yet… when the bundles go to the liberal side of the cookie… why it’s ok. By gosh and by golly we are just right at a Jacksonian democracy juncture… I get it now.

TDeParticipantAh… and corporations aren’t avoiding taxes at all. How could I have missed that difference?
In all honesty though, I’ve never paid attention to the BBB and don’t really know what you mean about associating them with President Obama. Thought they were a pretty ineffective organization. Interesting, if they are a non-profit with millions. Got any reference web links I can research later? Gotta run to work now.

metrognomeParticipantTDe — ‘BBB’ stands for either ‘Boring Beyond Belief’ or ‘Baloney Baffles Brains’ or ‘Blah … Blah … Blah’. Your choice.
