I live in the Alaska Junction area. My tap water was yellow/brown this morning. Anyone else having this issue? What causes it? Is it safe to use?

Just drove thru a stretch from end of WS Bridge (35th & Fauntleroy) up to Trader Joe’s.
Saw at least 2 cars with WAY expired license car tabs. One was 2 years old, one was about a year old.
Trying to understand why I pay mine each year for fear of ticket & being a tax paying citizen and this tiny example of what is more than likely a wider spread issue. What gives ???
People, pay your car tabs or give me some reasons why not. Cause I feel foolish for paying mine all these years if you know something I don’t.

I’m currently 20-weeks pregnant with my first and am starting the hunt for a preschool in the West Seattle/White Center area. My partner and I are really interested in preschools that offer Spanish immersion, as my partner’s family predominantly speaks Spanish.
I anticipate we’ll need to place our child in childcare near the start of 2025 when they’re about 6-months old.

Found keys on Wednesday afternoon around 2:15 on 01/31. Keys were in the middle of the road on 18th Ave SW near SW Graham street. There are a lot of Defiant brand keys as well as a red/pink palm tree bottle opener.
Found Monday evening (1/29/24) on the sidewalk, north side of Roxbury Street between 32nd Ave and 34th Ave. The set of keys has a cloth keychain/wristlet that says “California.”

We are searching for a skilled accounts receivable specialist to join our team to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The accounts receivable specialist will have both a day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued customers. This is a part-time role, approximately 20 hours per week. Schedule is flexible with opportunity for additional hours if desired. We are located in the Georgetown neighborhood.
Objectives of this role
Perform reconciliation of payments and customer accounts
Communicate discrepancies to management team, identify slow-paying customers, and recommend collection strategies
Strengthen and grow relationships with customers through communications regarding past-due accounts
Assist in streamlining the accounts receivable process by identifying areas for performance improvement
Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
Responsibilities
Gather and verify invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
Maintain accounts receivable records to ensure aging is up to date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared
Perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledger
Monitor and collect accounts receivable by contacting clients via telephone, email, and mail
Prepare reports relevant to A/R, so management can gain a better understanding of how collection efforts are progressing
Support other accounting and finance team members as needed
Required skills and qualifications
Strong mathematical skills
Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
Superb time management and detail orientation
Proficiency with Microsoft software
Ability to keep company and customer confidences
Ability to learn and utilize accounting ERP system
Preferred skills and qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience in accounts receivable (or accounts payable)

We are looking for either two part-time people, or one full-time person, to add to our small team to work in one or both of the following positions.
Front Office:
The front office is where the phones are answered, orders are written, and the daily warehouse flow is scheduled. We communicate with our distributors, wholesalers, and brokers via phone, email, and even Fax! There are several clerical tasks associated with this position, including maintaining inventory information for the online sales platform FAIRE, creating sales reports, creating sales materials, assisting in planning sales events, and so on. The front office also coordinates and staffs trade shows and demos (when conditions allow). This job requires polite customer service skills, accurate English language communication skills, attention to detail, and good organizational skills. Knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Outlook a plus.
Warehouse:
The warehouse is where inbound containers are received, bailed, and product is organized. Orders are then pulled, packed, and shipped out. We pack boxes to ship via UPS, and we stack and wrap pallets to ship LTL. This job requires attention to detail and a strong safety mindset. You must also be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly, and up to 80 lbs. occasionally. The warehouse crew is on their feet most of the day on a concrete floor. Knowledge of shipping software and QuickBooks is a plus. Forklift skills would also be helpful.

Health Insurance: Employees working at least 26 hours per week qualify for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage after 60 days. The employee contribution is $50 a month.
Predictable hours: We operate 9-5, Monday through Friday. The part-time front office job would be roughly 1-5, M-F. The part-time warehouse job could be adjusted to either mornings or specific days of the week. If one person wanted to do both, they would likely be in the warehouse for the first half of the day, and then catching the phones and emails and doing front office stuff for the second half of the day.
Sampling Allowance: We ask that employees take our products home to test in their own kitchens. This improves employee product knowledge.
Semi-regular happy hour at the end of the day on Friday.
Convenient location: We are located near the 1st Avenue S bridge. There is a bus stop about ½ mile away. DO NOT APPLY IN PERSON!
Wages:
Wages vary depending on experience, combination of positions, and whether you choose to participate in the health insurance plan. Starting hourly wage range is $17.25 – 18.50 with health insurance. Without health insurance, the current Seattle minimum wage applies (currently $19.97/hour).

My home boasts a 25-year-old concrete tile roof, renowned for its durability lasting up to 50 years, according to my research (please correct me if I’m mistaken). Further investigation reveals that the membrane beneath typically endures around 20 years.

Strong computer skills to use and manage applications such as MyTurn, Constant Contact, and Google Drive
Skills to teach and explain DIY projects and tool use to Members using the Library and Workshop
Skills to acquire, maintain, organize, categorize, store, price, and sell tools in Library circulation, Workshop or Basement Storage

The tool library is open Tue, Wed and Thursday 4:45 to 8:15; and Sat, Sun – 10:45 am – 4:15 pm. There are three options for a work schedule:

We are searching for an after school nanny to take care of 3 boys (ages 4, 5 & 6) Monday-Thursday from 2:30-5:30pm at our home in the High Point neighborhood of West Seattle. Looking for someone with a flexible schedule that can easily roll with the punches if we need to switch days of week or potentially cancel with advance notice. To all of you who block public pedestrian sidewalks with your vehicles..please stop! Especially when there is always plenty of street parking around your residence. For the disabled using a wheelchair, walker, or cane, trying to go around your vehicle to get to/from the street and back to the sidewalk can be impossible. It seems selfish to convenience yourself to the detriment of others.
Our beloved family cat is the cause of allergies in our young kids and needs to be re-homed.
Scout is a 15 year old indoor, male, long haired and neutered cat. Friendly and social. Has been raised with a lab mix dog although he prefers a quiet bed in the sunshine these days.
No health issues and still very agile. Would make a perfect companion. Litter box, travel carrier and other cat supplies happily included for the new family.

DoorDash recently notified me that they will be raising fees in Seattle because the city is now forcing them (and similar companies) to pay a minimum wage of $26.40 / hour per a new law for gig economy workers.
This sounds like great news to me, as I’m a strong labor supporter, but the way DoorDash talks about it in their announcement makes it sound like they’re complaining about having to pay their drivers more and is taking it out on the consumer. On the other hand, I know these issues aren’t always simple, so I’m curious if anyone in this community who drives for DoorDash or similar companies might be willing to share their opinion?
