Interested in working in the food industry but don’t want to work in a restaurant?

    Come work at Ritrovo!

We are an award-winning importer and wholesaler of high-end Italian specialty food. We ship all over the US and to Canada.

We are looking for a part-time to full-time person, to add to our small team to work in the following position.

    Warehouse Associate:

The warehouse is where inbound containers are received, bailed, and product is organized. Orders are then pulled, packed, and shipped out. We pack boxes to ship via UPS, and we stack and wrap pallets to ship LTL. This job requires attention to detail and a strong safety mindset. You must also be able to lift 30 lbs. regularly, and up to 80 lbs. occasionally. The warehouse crew is on their feet most of the day on a concrete floor. Knowledge of shipping software and QuickBooks is a plus. Forklift skills would also be helpful.

Some Benefits of Working at Ritrovo:

Health Insurance: Employees working at least 26 hours per week qualify for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage after 60 days. The employee contribution is $50 a month.

Predictable hours: We operate 9-5, Monday through Friday.

Sampling Allowance: We ask that employees take our products home to test in their own kitchens. This improves employee product knowledge.

Semi-regular happy hour at the end of the day on Friday.

Convenient location: We are located near the 1st Avenue S bridge. There is a bus stop about ½ mile away. DO NOT APPLY IN PERSON!

    Wages:

Wages vary depending on experience, and whether you choose to participate in the health insurance plan. Starting hourly wage range is $17.25 – 18.50 with health insurance. Without health insurance, the current Seattle minimum wage applies (currently $19.97/hour).

If this sounds like the job for you, please email an introductory letter with a resume attached to:

Anyone know “Grandma Koeppen?” I found some keys and a couple lanyards with her name while out on a walk in West Seattle. They were stuck in a bush near SW Charlestown and 52nd. There is a Jefferson Elementary (Bruins) in Tacoma, but I thought I would check locally first.

We have a young Italian man (23) from Venice staying with us for the next month, and he plays basketball back home. Do you know of any opportunities for him to join a casual pickup session? or somehow get a chance to shoot some hoops with basketball-minded people?

Moving from a 1-bedroom to a microstudio sounds like quite the adventure! It’s awesome that you’re looking to pass on your furniture to someone who can give it a new home. Your generosity could make a huge difference for someone in need of furnishing their space affordably.

With items like a twin bed frame, bookcase, folding table, chairs, TV stand, and more, you’ve got a variety of pieces that could really help someone make their new space feel like home. It’s wonderful to see people paying it forward in the community.

Anyone smell the bad smell in the air tonight? I live near Wholefoods, and was able to smell it as soon as I stepped outside, and all the way up the hill to the Junction. I didn’t go past there since I didn’t have to but I’m sure it’s in a wide area. Makes me think of something like “Aroma of Tacoma” Smells like it could be some kind of industrial type pollution. Caused a headache and hurt my throat. Hope it goes away soon!

Al Semple is a very nice person and long time West Seattle resident who has been helping us with our yard for many years. He’s done a lot of weeding, cut grass, even removed lots of ivy and cut back some overgrown trees and shrubs. He’s especially good at asking for specific instructions so there are no mistakes. I understand he can also do painting and other jobs tho he hasn’t yet helped us with anything besides yard work. You can reach him at almco60@aol.com.

Dear aa – I am not holding it, so letting it go isn’t the purpose of this post. I believe there are more than a few scofflaws not paying their car tabs. Seems rampant. I notice as I sit behind people at stop lights as I stay aware of what is going on around me. Maybe I should have become a cop. The idea that people are not paying their car tabs when others are smacks of same people who let their dogs run on the beach. Of course I would love to let my dog run around on the beach, so fun ! so carefree ! but that’s not what is the law. There are laws that are in place to keep a society functioning. When I see people flaunting those laws, it irks me. I follow the rules, others follow the rules – why shouldn’t all ?

Hey West Seattleites – we are looking for a kind and patient nanny for ~4 months for after school care. Our kids attend school in West Seattle and we live near Alki. We are willing to pay $30+/hr, depending on experience. A typical day would include pickup at 3 pm, helping with homework, preparing snacks, and shuttling to after school activities. Some very light housekeeping and dinner prep for the kids will be needed before signing off around 7:30 or 8 pm will also be needed. You must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Our 6-year-old is neuro divergent and very active, and therefore will need some patience and engagement to be motivated to leave the playground or get out the door, but she is very sweet and manageable. Experience with neuro divergent is a strong plus, but a willingness to learn how to engage and motivate is equally valuable. Our 11-year-old 6th grader is studious, kind, and independent and is involved in sports. If interested, please contact Beau Schilz at beau.schilz@gmail.com or text 617-290-5132. Thanks!

early February, someone dumped a large black backpack in my yard (probably from a stolen vehicle!) and it has large workshops, t-shirt and hat and socks in it but no ID.

Please get in touch if it’s yours! I have no idea what to do with it if no one claims it.

Found, apparently dumped, on a residential street near Alki Beach: two bowling balls in a bag customized for that purpose. They do not appear to be damaged. One ball has a name engraved on it. If they’re yours, please identify the engraved name and I’ll arrange a hand-off.
