Leaving around 9:15 am, traveling to Lake Union north of Mercer usually takes me 35-40 minutes. It may be more or less for you, depending on where you need to go downtown. I find google to be pretty accurate if you plug in when you’d like to arrive. Good luck!

HMC Rich, I think most people have gone silent regarding any politics due to the complete hate and fear that is brewing in our country. If you did not vote for Hillary, you are a racist, a Nazi, it goes on and on. Trump is being compared to Hitler for God’s sake. My mind has been blown on the disrespect our country is displaying. And I can bet I will get SLAMMED for these comments, so hide and watch!

As for our local government , I would guess that the members of the WS community may actually agree that we have GOT to get new blood in our city council. I was SHOCKED that a Socialist was actually elected and now as Seattle edges ever so closely to that side of politics, I have to say after living here for over 30 years, I will not be here much longer. The once beautiful city is now becoming filthy dirty, over crowded and way too expensive. We are an exact repeat of what happened to San Francisco. From the politics, being a sanctuary city and now the homeless problem we have. I am sad to say I don’t think there is any turning back. But we were warned weren’t we? Just look north they used to say.

However I am a proud American who will celebrate tomorrow and thank God I am an American.

Well boys and girls. This political forum is dead it seems. Or is there no joy in the Emerald City? We had some spirited debates and disagreements in the past with respect for the most part.

Now that my property taxes have risen 43% in four years according to an article I read in the Seattle Times, I am wondering if many of you voters are not suffering in the wallet as much as I am.

Now I know McCleary made our taxes go up because of the court decision. And I know ST3 has added fees and taxes. Our city council and Mayor keep trying to add more taxes. I have to say, many of you people voted in our city leaders and may I add, it’s killing me financially.
I ask a favor. Can some of you realize that some of us can’t afford any more taxation? Can some of you realize that my neighborhood is less safe? Can some of you realize that most decisions that affect Seattle are from the people you elected and propositions you passed?

I hope in these next elections we get some candidates that understand business, budgets, and cost effective execution of spending our tax dollars. Are there any Democrats out there that can do this? Can a little fiscal responsibility compete with Social Justice causes? You have run out the Republicans in this city so there isn’t much choice. The choices usually on the ballot are prefers Democrat Party, Progressive Democrat Party, Democratic Socialist Party, and KShama Activist Socialist party. (Damn, her and her minions might try to get me for clicking LIKE on a Facebook post!)

Or is it time to reflect on the OWL party and say …. WE DON’T GIVE A HOOT.
Because it seems to me the City of Seattle has adopted the OWL double acronym. Out With Logic, On With Lunacy.

Enjoy Independence Day. And don’t blow your hand off or burn down my house while letting off illegal fireworks and scaring the poop out of my cats and dogs!

North-facing spots in West Seattle – especially higher-up – have a good view of the Lake Union fireworks. Three Tree Point is nice but I to date haven’t found a viewpoint beyond standing on the side of the road in Arbor Heights. Since, even pre-WSB, I almost always had to work the 4th, we went a couple years to the Poulsbo 3rd of July show. Also, depending on where you go, there are spots in WS where you can glimpse the Vashon or Bainbridge fireworks … Also, not too far south, Des Moines has a show:

When renovating the house, I removed the parquet, carpet and padding. Poured hydrogen peroxide on all the stained spots and let it foam up. Blotted dry with paper towels. Then I sprinkled baking soda over it to absorb the rest of the moisture. Let that sit overnight and swept it up. Don’t vacuum the rest, it stinks.sweep up as much as you can. Then when it was dry, I painted it with kilz.
    Worked great.

Does anyone know about plans for a new bar on California, near Oregon? I am wondering if the plan is to have an outdoor section on the alley, right by the Oregonian apartments. Any information, appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi –

We’re looking for a family that is looking to share a nanny in – ideally – October 2018. If you’re looking to start a month before or after that, we should definitely still chat. Some things about us:

We prefer to host, and live near the High Point library. Our baby will be ~12 weeks in mid-October but are completely open to older/younger kiddo(s) joining the share. We’re looking for 40-45 hours/week, Monday-Friday. We value open communication, promptness, and reliability (things we loved with our last nanny share family). We love to have our family outside, rain or shine.

If that sounds like a good fit to you, get in touch, we would love to hear from you.

In a rental we have a couple of spots where cat urine had penetrated through the carpet & pad and soaked into the subfloor below, and even traveled some.

We’ve replaced the carpet & pad and repeatedly drenched (and dried-out) the problem areas w/ Natures Miracle to no avail, so we’re ready to call in some help.

Who can you recommend that has a proven track record with resolving this type of issue?
We realize it could even involve replacing the ‘infected’ wood and sheetrock, just so long as it gets eradicated!

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give.

    Enjoy…

I would think that folks that would be willing to open their house to a student from another country would typically do it for free and $300 is like a bonus. At least that’s how I would view it. I don’t think it is meant to be something from which you’re going to try to make a profit. In fact, I can’t imagine having a guest for three weeks without taking them to Gardens and Glass, Ride the Ducks, Space Needle, Mt. Rainier. I’d just figure all of those adventures would just be part of the deal. . . . .

i took my bird feeders down last year because i had a rodent problem.
it appears the rodents have found another food source..
i still constantly battle rats.. and probably will as long as there is nearby habitat… like the lovely rain gardens the city put in out front or the vacant house next door or ….

    i miss the birds

as for coyotes.. i live near Westwood and have seen them in my alley

If you want to spy on something bad happening in a grocery store head on over to the deli. Stand there and watch the workers with gloves on as they walk around touching all sorts of things including your food. Ask them when was the last time they changed out their gloves. Or ask them about the deli salads, when were they prepared? How many more days of shelf life? When they are refilling a bowl of salad, is it from the same batch? Or are they mixing old and new until there is no way to know how old that potato salad is. That is something to pay attention to. These questions and cautions are the same whether you’re at Metropolitan Market or any other store.

To whomever Borrowed, without permission, My ’97 Honda Civic on Friday the 22nd I would really like it back. I have some errands to run and was hoping you would be done with it by now. I had intended to go camping the following morning and all of my rafting/camping gear was inside. As you can tell from the luxury vehicle you have been driving around, I cannot afford to replace these items. If you could bring it back to where it was parked on California Ave. between Admiral way and College st. (No questions asked) I would be truly grateful. In the meantime if any good Samaritan sees my car please contact the police so they can remind this confused individual to return my property to me. The license plate number is AIC3548 and there is a almost completely worn off UW sticker on back window on the left side.

I’m sure it’s a lovely experience but that stipend seems pretty pointless–is it really $300 for the entire three weeks?

I know adding one more mouth to feed isn’t that expensive, but $14 a day for three meals still doesn’t seem like it would cover much?

What am I missing? (besides, obviously, a kind heart and generous spirit)
