webshafParticipantHere’s what I saw yesterday at a local grocery store. A man took a receipt out of the trash can just outside of a grocery store, examined it and went into the store. He put various items in his cart and I figured he was “up to no good”(as my mother would say). I looked for someone who might be a manager, but everyone seemed to be very busy taking care of customers, so I figured he was going to be successful. As I stood by the deli, a couple of minutes later, the same man strolled by with his cart loaded with groceries and beer. He walked past the ‘officer-looking’ man just coming in the door, waved his receipt and kept on going. The officer kept looking at him so I went up and told him what I had seen. He(officer) came back in the area a couple of minutes later and gave me a thumbs up. I WILL NEVER TOSS MY RECEIPT AGAIN. HOW ABOUT YOU?

killagramParticipantseems like you need to mind your business, nothing about this effects your life.

wsn00bParticipantI’m surprised he didn’t return those items and fraudulently cash out. I’ve heard of stories like that.

CarDriverParticipantWas at Admiral Safeway this morning when one of the workers saw someone walk out with a handful of groceries. The crooks don’t need to look for receipts to steal!.

aaParticipantIf you want to spy on something bad happening in a grocery store head on over to the deli. Stand there and watch the workers with gloves on as they walk around touching all sorts of things including your food. Ask them when was the last time they changed out their gloves. Or ask them about the deli salads, when were they prepared? How many more days of shelf life? When they are refilling a bowl of salad, is it from the same batch? Or are they mixing old and new until there is no way to know how old that potato salad is. That is something to pay attention to. These questions and cautions are the same whether you’re at Metropolitan Market or any other store.

peggie_griffith@hotmail.comParticipantActually, theft from stores affects all of us in the form of increased prices for security and to cover shoplifting.
