    Hello,
I was on Alki and saw a guy in a smaller fishing boat with huge fishing net, tied to the shore. Never saw this before. Used strong binoculars and saw a younger, blond male, (smoking) on the boat. Is fishing on this scale allowed on Alki???

    Dear Neighbors,

The Lafayette Elementary 2023-2024 school year is off and running after a fantastic summer! We need your help to make this the best year yet. The Lafayette PTA is planning to provide extra support for students to meet reading and math goals while continuing to bring the school and neighborhood community together. We have an ambitious goal of raising over $200,000 to fill the gap between funding provided by the district and the needs of the school. The Lafayette PTA uses its budget to support Lafayette students, staff, and in-school programs. Examples of items the Lafayette PTA pays for include:

    Tutors
    Classroom & student school supplies
    Instrumental music
    Field trip and camp scholarships
    Student Government Activities
    Technology
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM) program supplies
    Community building family events
    School garden program
    Much more!

So how can YOU or your organization help? Sponsor one of our largest school fundraisers, the annual Lafayette Move-A-Thon! On November 3rd, over 500 students and cheering family members will take to the blacktop to support the school. In support of their efforts, a Lafayette Sponsorship is a great way to get much needed funds into the Lafayette PTA and also benefit your organization by gaining exposure with the Lafayette and the West Seattle community. Getting your organization’s name and/or logo on the Lafayette website, in the front window, on event bibs, and shared on all of our social media sites is a great way to show your support for the children of West Seattle.

If a monetary donation isn’t in the cards we are also looking for prize donations to support the kids in raising funds for the PTA. Each child is tasked with asking friends and family for Move-A-Thon donations. Students are incentivized to fund raise with fun prizes for: top earning student, top earning classroom, etc. Please let us know if you’re interested in also donating fun prizes.

Are you ready to make a difference?

There are over 3900 topics… I don’t want to look at ~4,000 topics to find someone who can build stairs. Is there a search function I am not seeing? Or an organized table of contents? I thought there used to be a TOC…
    Thanks!

FREE Modern extending dining room table from Ligne Roset. The table is called Extensia. When collapsed it is 55X37 inches and when extended it is 102X37. There is a clever nesting action of the glass so no leaves to store. The wood is either a beech or light oak (I cant tell for sure). It is in extremely good condition. Roughly 25 years old, originally purchased from Ligne Roset in Seattle. Located near Lincoln Park. I can send photos of actual table or you can look here for a similar table:

Josiah, the owner(local)and his employees were wonderful. I have 2 big cedars, fir and a spruce. He cleaned out all the dead branches all the way to the tops. He did around the power lines. My trees hang way out over the street, he brought those “back” just enough. My neighbors are happy too.

The trees branches now have light and are just beautiful. The clean up was impeccable too.

Hi there – we are a local tree service that is very active in the West Seattle community. As a result, we often have arborist wood chips available when our trucks fill up, which we give away for free to residents (assuming our truck can fit down your road to dump the chips).

We contact our list by text/call when we’re in the area and have wood chips to dump.

If you’re interested, you can sign up for our list here: https://forms.gle/L6KmbWXDLdCE9ErG8

If you want to read about us first to understand who we are, you can here: https://www.bloomatree.com/

(Mods, hopefully this doesn’t run afoul of any advertising restrictions, this is a truly free service we provide residents all over West Seattle. But happy to remove the post if it doesn’t meet your guidelines!)

My boyfriend and I are West Seattle born and raised and are looking for a rental home in the area. Our families grew up here, and we are wanting to stay close to take care of some family with health issues. We are looking for 2+ bedrooms, 1+ bath house. We are looking for something around $2500 a month that accepts a small dog (fully trained 5 yrs old) and a cat. Since we have a dog, a fenced yard would be awesome.
We are looking to move in November. We have references and excellent rental history. We have been looking on Zillow and other platforms, but not all independent landlords use those sites so we are also posting here.
    Thanks for reading :)

I’m the front desk volunteer at Neighborhood House, just trying to reconnect people with their belongings. This morning, we had a wallet retrieved from the bushes outside. It’s a black Avatar, the Last Airbender wallet, completely cleaned out except for a high school id, state issued license, and a photo.
    We also have:
A gray tub that had several snacks and a Build-A-Bear left outside our doors two weeks ago.

A tan cloth backpack filled with personal papers.
A black backpack filled with athletic items.

If any of this is yours, please claim it. You will have to provide identifying details to prove ownership. Please call 206-588-4900 ext. 3000 or you can come in, we are at 6400 Sylvan Way SW, open until 5 p.m. daily.
