Jenn: Maybe try contacting the WSB at westseattleblog@gmail.com & see if they can contact Heather? It looks like she’s only ever made this one post and likely forgot about it. I think every commenter has to register with an email address (I can’t remember exactly I signed up so long ago) but might be worth a try?

Thanks for the tip regarding United Airlines. I read that just today, United Airlines is requiring all flight attendants to wear facemasks, and providing such to its employees. As 350 flight attendants have contracted the Coronavirus and several have died, it is good to see an airline taking steps to keep its employees and customers safe.

I understand that United Airlines provides PPE for their employees, however the transmission problem goes beyond airlines due to the virus being treated differently according to which airport you’re in. For example, the airport, TSA and airline employees all ride the same port bus from the parking lot and it can be crowded. If other employees are not wearing PPE, then they could spread the virus to those who are. Also the airport itself is enclosed, circulates old, dry air where the virus can be spread by all the other people who aren’t wearing PPE. I would look into how you could protect yourself in that situation.

I have been avoiding air travel for the past couple months for Covid-19 safety concerns. Last week I reluctantly took an unavoidable flight. I flew with Alaska Airlines, assuming they implemented adequate safety precautions. From the Alaska Airlines counter, to the gate, during the flight, and on the jet way, I directly encountered 15 Alaska Airlines employees. These employees all came well within 6 feet of me, often within a couple feet, and only one was wearing a facemask. I am concerned that this company is placing its employees at risk, and in turn putting its customers at risk. These employees come in direct contact daily with hundreds of the traveling public in an enclosed environment. Trader Joes, Starbucks, Wal-Mart, and other grocers all require their employees to wear facemasks. The CDC recommends wearing a cloth face covering whenever in public, which I do. How does an airline not require its flight attendants and other employees who come in direct contact with the public not to wear face coverings?

Unfortunately, I have some unavoidable travel in the future. I am wondering if anyone can recommend another airline which has implemented good safety precautions.

If you need furnace work in West Seattle and do not user James Heating, you are a covidiot. Our furnace went down with a broken igniter, and no one else could come except for SW. They came and said it would be $300 for the igniter and $500 for the job, but they had to order it. My wife said that she had seen a great review for James, so I called. He came in a few hours (weaving a mask) and explained the situation to me. He said it would be $50 for the igniter and $250 total. He offered to come back today, but I moved it to tomorrow. James is one of the nicest, most decent people I have met in a long time. If we want to have alternatives to ACME heating, we need to support the real people who are there for us. Please do.

Lost Keys….. Hi neighbors! Went to Me-Kwa-Mooks park on Beach Drive today and I lost/misplaced my keys. I had my 5 and 7 year old grandkids with me (as I do 3days/week since school closures) and things get hectic. Anyway…..I either lost them around the rope swings on the trail, in the grassy area, or (don’t laugh) I might have left them in my passenger front door key slot. My car is older and requires a key to open. I’m posting a picture of my spare key to help. It says Chrysler on it but I don’t believe the key that I lost did. But otherwise it’s identical. There were several other keys on it as well.

If you have found them, would you message me, please? Although it’s an older car the key still has a computer chip in it which makes it costly. Thanks, neighbors….

Who pays for this? The water taxi and WSF are subsidized with tax dollars. This would mean that every trip would have to meet a certain threshold to cover the costs of the trip.

Would this be a business that would be covering this using licensed charter Masters? Will the vessels meet the requirements for transporting passengers commercially?

Where will passengers board and disembark? There are no accessible docks for this. Are you proposing to make use of public facilities for private business?

Last week we visited our Mom thru the glass at the front of her assisted living resident and talked on our cellphones.
Now they say the residents are confined to their rooms.
At least they are getting good meals. not just bread and water.
But no video conferencing no Zoom, no google meeting.
    Nothing.
We have not received notice of this, fact is we have only received one or two emails.
They not even telling us the status of the number of infected residents. I believe it was 3 a few weeks ago. No News.

My husband and I are driving through downtown Kirkland at 5:20pm Sunday and absolutely NO ONE is wearing a mask. I mean this was ground zero for the whole country last month. The place is really crowded and all the beaches are packed with no social distancing being observed.

Kirkland may become the comeback epicenter again.😠
