My cable TV pulled out of my roof mount some years ago and was slumping 8-10 feet above the Ave. I pulled it up but realized I needed a new cable-pull-tensioner thing. I went to True Value and despite my inarticulate description they pointed me to what I needed. My BIL drilled the new hole, sealed the old hole, and re-tensioned the thingee. I can’t imagine how many home despot trips this would have taken.

    Hello,
I’m having a SUPER DELUXE GARAGE SALE full of ANTIQUES, COLLECTIBLES, ORIGINAL ART, SPORTS and CAMPING EQUIPMENT this SATURDAY and SUNDAY 07/15/2017 9-5 @ Dawson and 36th Ave SW. Look for the big yellow signs on 35th Ave SW across from Camp Long. This one is not to be missed!

I’ll have a ton of camping and sports equipment, tents, tennis rackets, rollerblades, snowboards, motorcycle equipment, helmets, jackets, hiking boots, art, collectibles, and just a lot of great items up for sale in very good or new condition. I’ve been collecting these treasures for years, but now I’ve run out of room, so it’s time for someone else to enjoy them. This is more like an Estate Sale or a rich person’s moving sale than your typical junky garage sale.

Couldn’t get the old blade off of my circular saw, so took it into TV for help with replacement. I never would have asked, but figured it was a little less presumptuous given that I intended to buy a new blade. The gentleman who helped me is always extremely pleasant and helpful (longish grey hair & mustachio) but went the extra mile today! Not only did it take two guys to get the blade off, but I could not find a replacement. Even so, it was expert service with a smile – as usual. This store really has excellent staff, and I always make an effort to give them my business for this reason.

Thanks, True Value – you’re the best!

I was attacked and bitten by a dog on 48th Ave between Findlay and Juneau on Monday (July 10) morning about 6:30am. The dog looked similar to an Australian Shepard, with tan and white coloring. I realize rabies is rare around here, but the dog came out of nowhere, was very aggressive and there was no owner in site. I really want to find the owner to determine whether the dog has rabies. Because of health reasons I don’t want to have to get the rabies vaccine if I don’t need to. However rabies is fatal to humans, so I would like to know of I need to get it.

Please, if you are the owner of this dog or know of the dog, please contact me.

    Thank you,

Looking for high school or college student to help with yard and gardening this summer at home in West Seattle (Seaview area). $11 per hour; the hours are flexible. While experience is not required, it would be helpful to know the difference between salal and ivy, and between holly and Oregon grape. The job would mostly entail weeding and clearing areas overgrown with ivy, blackberries, wild clematis and small trees, and rebuilding trails. Some of the work would be on slopes, and would involve some pruning and cutting down of small trees and branches, along with some spraying, so a hardy soul with good balance and judgment would be an asset. Most important job requirements: reliable, responsible, safety-oriented, good judgment. References required.

Thank you TanDL! Do you mind sharing the names of the other companies who were in the lower (and higher) ends of the range for the paving portion? Also, did Emerald City do any planting, yard, or gardening work for you guys?

Hi Curate: We did get other bids and Emerald City was in the middle range for pavers. We talked with other companies about pavers and also poured concrete options. We liked the choice of pavers presented by Emerald City and especially appreciated how critical drainage factors with the job were explained to us. For the fence, other bids were pretty much in the same price range however I was in a hurry to get the fence done and other companies were booked out into the summer. Emerald City had a surprise earlier May opening, due to another job cancellation and we were so happy with their paving job that we jumped at it. We ended up very happy with the fence, too!

Hey @TanDL, if you’re still reading this thread, thank you for all the posts you make recommending folks for various home jobs! I really appreciate it so much that you share when you find companies you’ve had a good experience with. I was curious on this yard job you were describing here — did you get other bids? If so, I’d love to know why you ended up going with Emerald City Landscapes above the others. Thank you!

I haven’t been able to get a decent haircut since Lily left Budget Cuts. I never found out where she went to. I liked the under $20 price and the location and I’m looking for something similar. I have thick hair and most people don’t know how cut it. I’m not interested in spending too much on simple trims and thinning.
    Thanks!

Posting this here for West Seattle people before I try Craigslist at large! We have a very cool Thomas the Tank Engine toy chest for sale of a design that’s hard to find. Our kids have outgrown their train phase, so we’re looking to sell it and regain some space. Aside from some scuffs and stickers, it’s in great shape and is a very well-built wooden box. Has a slow-close lid so it won’t smash fingers.

    Pictures are here: http://lemonlye.blogspot.com/2017/07/thomas.html

Dimensions are 32″ long x 20″ wide by 17″ high–lots of room inside!

Asking $40. We’re in the vicinity of the Southwest Library – let me know if you want to come get it!

    Thanks,
    Molly

Who do I contact to complain about the large amount of parking that was off limits this weekend due to no parking signs when no one actually showed up to use the space!

And who can we get to remove all the rocks from the street from the construction of the two buildings of mini apartments?

i absolutely love the staff at that store. i am not so impressed with the change in merchandise since it was taken over by Kroger or of the current remodel.. but the people there are incredible.
