Hello! I am a senior at the University of Washington Program on the Environment working on my senior thesis with a fellow senior. We would be grateful if you could take five minutes to fill out the survey. The survey is completely anonymous and we will not reference survey participants by name. Once the survey closes on March 9th there is an optional drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card if people would like to enter after taking the survey.

He is a Community Police Team officer with the Southwest Precinct and its main point person on homelessness-related issues.
====================
(Headline quote is from) The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton, 1967.
I stood under the power lines, in an open field strewn with litter and a few needle caps. The sunrise is beautiful, the view spectacular. Next to me, a student officer and a FTO (field training officer) who wanted to see what I see. I have but one absolute rule when I take officers or civilians out into my clandestine, unsanctioned neighborhood.. it is … not a zoo, these are not animals.
These are people and this is where they live. Some of my neighbors have a great deal of pride in where they live and will invite you in and offer you coffee, while others look have camps that look like a plane crash with no survivors and want nothing to do with the police. I usually have a cup of coffee with me, I do love my coffee. I will chat with Greg and his brother, check in on Marcus and see how he is coping. Has anybody seen Amber? We will talk about the tree that took of the corner of JJ’s camp during the last windstorm.
Hey Wiki!! You got any trash bags? Hey Wiki!! Do you have a dollar, I need smokes. Hey Wiki how are you doing? Thank you for coming down and checking on us. I am Wiki. I guess the B is silent in my name, but I don’t care. I am not there to hear my name, I am there to hear their stories and keep them connected to the rest of us.
Hey guys, next week I am coming in with the NAV team to look at this living situation. Clean up. Be ready to move if that is the word from the city. Anybody ready to get some help? Okay then, see you later.
I leave the hillside and go find a man who has worn out his welcome a dozen times over. I have known him for two years now. He has stepped over the line with me a handful of times, during one encounter it almost got real ugly. My fellow patrol officers have been dealing with him. He won’t listen, he is causing issue with the neighbors, and he is piling up junk around his garbage heap of a car again. Do something Wiki!! Okay.
Dude, we cannot keep doing this. I know he says. I cannot let this situation continue. I know he says. I am taking the car tomorrow. It does not run, the tabs are two years expired, it is a junk vehicle. I know he says. I do not want to fight either, what can I do to help? I don’t know he says as he tears up. I ask about resources and he silently shakes his head. I drive away only to come back with some breakfast burritos and a hot cocoa, he thanks me several times. He knows that the die are cast.
I showed up this morning and he was gone. I towed the car. At moments like this, as motorists pass and honk giving me a thumbs up, I just want to cry.
We are here for you Seattle. We are doing our best. I work for the best people in the country alongside the most dedicated and professional officers around. I do miss my old French blue uniforms though. Call us if you need us, operators are standing by.
Topic: Vacuum cleaner needed
Looking for a used vacuum cleaner in good working condition for young single mother with sickle anemia. If you have one gathering dust in your garage, please let me know. Thanks!
I’ve been a client of Tyler Linsten, the owner of Alder Cove Capital, for over a year. I was inspired to get a fiduciary advisor, rather than a big-name investment firm, after watching a segment on John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight.” It really opened my eyes to how important it is to get someone who works in my best interest, as opposed to an investment firm that acts on commission, always wants to sell me something, and makes frequent trades that ramp up my fees.
Tyler is the complete opposite. He’s smart, he’s savvy about investments, AND he really cares about his clients. He calls himself a “numbers nerd” and has a great sense of humor, but he takes your financial goals seriously. Tyler creates a personalized plan that goes beyond the basic “Are you a conservative investor?” types of questions. You’ll be able to access all your info on a really cool private website he creates just for you. He is super-quick to respond to emails, and, since he doesn’t have a fancy office or an administrative assistant, his fees are reasonable.
I’m pretty conservative with my money and don’t like to make big changes, but, in the past year, I have moved about 90 percent of of my finances from big-name brokerages to Alder Cove Capital. And the fee is a lot lower than what I paid to commission-based salesmen – oops, I mean stockbrokers.
You don’t need to be wealthy to work with Tyler. And it doesn’t matter if you’re close to retirement or just starting out. Plus, if anything is confusing, he explains it to you in layman’s terms.
If you’re at all interested, take a look at his website. Just google Alder Cove Capital. The FAQs are especially useful.

brarrobin32@hotmail.comTopic: Arbor Heights Flasher
This information was provided in a recent alert sent out by our Arbor Heights Block Watch captains. I’ve added a few details after speaking with the victim, who is both my neighbor and a respected member of our community.
On Saturday, January 27th, she was walking her dogs near 39th Ave SW & SW 105th St. It was around noon, quiet, no one else on the street. She was approached by a man who pretended to bend over to pet her dogs. When he stood up, he had arranged his clothing in order to fully expose himself. She did not react, but turned and walked away. He then walked back toward the elementary school on 105th. He was described as: 6’3” tall, big Caucasian guy, curly black hair, clean-shaven, in his 30’s. He was wearing flimsy short blue shorts (with no undergarments), grey hoodie, and faded blue baseball hat. An incident report is on file, and community members notified the school.
It’s impossible to say whether or not this individual actually resides in Arbor Heights, but it seems reasonable that the larger West Seattle community should be on alert.
