sure seems like high rent to me. Try a little less and you may get a good tenant who will stay awhile.

    Good morning!
I am renting a great place near Alki and will be gone March 13-20. I have one older terrier, very sweet but a bit shy and was planning on boarding him. If you’d like to chat about house sitting, please get in touch. If it worked out, you could stay from the tenth if needed.
    Cheers,
    Carol

Our home’s remodel is still incomplete.  Whether you had planned on a vacation or not, this is your chance to leave your home, or friendly and non-aggressive pet, tended for at least a week, longer is better, starting MARCH 10, free of charge.

We have been house and pet sitting for 14 families since last July in West Seattle and have accumulated local references for you to check.  We are consistently told we leave a home even nicer than when it is put in our charge.

Married over 50 years, we are fit, responsible home owners, clean and dependable, with an intense love for pets.  Your home and or pet would be in competent, loving hands.
    Thanks for reading!

You should get great reception on the channels that are broadcast from the Queen Anne towers (4.1, 5.1, 7.1, 16.1 and 51.1) and the ones broadcast from the Capitol Hill towers (8.1, 9.1, 11.1, 13.1 [translator on RF channel 22], 22.1, 24.1, 28.1 [translator on RF 16], 44.1. You should also get reception on the ones from Tiger Mt near Issaquah (33.1, 46.1, 56.1) although your signal strength might be lower. You’ll have real difficulty on the two from Gold Mountain in Bremerton (13.1, 20.1) but 13.1 is rebroadcast from Capitol Hill and 20.1 is the TBN station so unless you are specifically looking for religious TV you won’t miss that one.

Most of these channels have several subchannels (.2, .3, etc.,) for additional programming. 9.1 and 11.1 broadcast on the VHF band and the rest are on UHF so make sure you get an antenna that receives both VHF and UHF.

Hello! I am a senior at the University of Washington Program on the Environment working on my senior thesis with a fellow senior. We would be grateful if you could take five minutes to fill out the survey. The survey is completely anonymous and we will not reference survey participants by name. Once the survey closes on March 9th there is an optional drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card if people would like to enter after taking the survey.

I’m on 42nd, just east of Admiral Safeway, and I have a 30 buck indoor antenna, and it works fine. You may even get a shopping channel or two. You will definitely get religious stations, and spanish speaking stations. The major over the air channels come in loud and clear, in HD. Be sure to get an antenna that you can move around. Sometimes the signal is stronger over there —-> :)

Check out Amazon…they have a bunch…get one that has a reach of 50 miles. And yes, you can watch the Seahawks on CH. 13. Mariners? Not so much

brukeste: Personally, i think cancer patients should ingest only organic whole foods, not factory products. You’ve posted several times but you do not respond to the simple solutions proposed. First, you can buy this stuff outside city limits. That LIFE-SAVING measure may be the only solution you can accept but a better one is to make a substitute gatorade. Making it yourself provides a far healthier drink than the garbage that is sold and it is not subject to the tax. I am inclined to think you are getting paid by the bottling and /or sugar industry to post an anti-tax argument. Prove me wrong. Provide a coherent reason why buying outside city limits is impossible and why making your own is not a far better alternative.

    ====================

(Headline quote is from) The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton, 1967.

I stood under the power lines, in an open field strewn with litter and a few needle caps. The sunrise is beautiful, the view spectacular. Next to me, a student officer and a FTO (field training officer) who wanted to see what I see. I have but one absolute rule when I take officers or civilians out into my clandestine, unsanctioned neighborhood.. it is … not a zoo, these are not animals.

These are people and this is where they live. Some of my neighbors have a great deal of pride in where they live and will invite you in and offer you coffee, while others look have camps that look like a plane crash with no survivors and want nothing to do with the police. I usually have a cup of coffee with me, I do love my coffee. I will chat with Greg and his brother, check in on Marcus and see how he is coping. Has anybody seen Amber? We will talk about the tree that took of the corner of JJ’s camp during the last windstorm.

Hey Wiki!! You got any trash bags? Hey Wiki!! Do you have a dollar, I need smokes. Hey Wiki how are you doing? Thank you for coming down and checking on us. I am Wiki. I guess the B is silent in my name, but I don’t care. I am not there to hear my name, I am there to hear their stories and keep them connected to the rest of us.

Hey guys, next week I am coming in with the NAV team to look at this living situation. Clean up. Be ready to move if that is the word from the city. Anybody ready to get some help? Okay then, see you later.

I leave the hillside and go find a man who has worn out his welcome a dozen times over. I have known him for two years now. He has stepped over the line with me a handful of times, during one encounter it almost got real ugly. My fellow patrol officers have been dealing with him. He won’t listen, he is causing issue with the neighbors, and he is piling up junk around his garbage heap of a car again. Do something Wiki!! Okay.

Dude, we cannot keep doing this. I know he says. I cannot let this situation continue. I know he says. I am taking the car tomorrow. It does not run, the tabs are two years expired, it is a junk vehicle. I know he says. I do not want to fight either, what can I do to help? I don’t know he says as he tears up. I ask about resources and he silently shakes his head. I drive away only to come back with some breakfast burritos and a hot cocoa, he thanks me several times. He knows that the die are cast.

I showed up this morning and he was gone. I towed the car. At moments like this, as motorists pass and honk giving me a thumbs up, I just want to cry.

We are here for you Seattle. We are doing our best. I work for the best people in the country alongside the most dedicated and professional officers around. I do miss my old French blue uniforms though. Call us if you need us, operators are standing by.

This is one of the reasons I don’t come to the forum anymore; using this as an advertisement platform for sales or services. They don’t even pretend to want a conversation. Forget this noise…

I’ve been a client of Tyler Linsten, the owner of Alder Cove Capital, for over a year. I was inspired to get a fiduciary advisor, rather than a big-name investment firm, after watching a segment on John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight.” It really opened my eyes to how important it is to get someone who works in my best interest, as opposed to an investment firm that acts on commission, always wants to sell me something, and makes frequent trades that ramp up my fees.
Tyler is the complete opposite. He’s smart, he’s savvy about investments, AND he really cares about his clients. He calls himself a “numbers nerd” and has a great sense of humor, but he takes your financial goals seriously. Tyler creates a personalized plan that goes beyond the basic “Are you a conservative investor?” types of questions. You’ll be able to access all your info on a really cool private website he creates just for you. He is super-quick to respond to emails, and, since he doesn’t have a fancy office or an administrative assistant, his fees are reasonable.
I’m pretty conservative with my money and don’t like to make big changes, but, in the past year, I have moved about 90 percent of of my finances from big-name brokerages to Alder Cove Capital. And the fee is a lot lower than what I paid to commission-based salesmen – oops, I mean stockbrokers.
You don’t need to be wealthy to work with Tyler. And it doesn’t matter if you’re close to retirement or just starting out. Plus, if anything is confusing, he explains it to you in layman’s terms.
If you’re at all interested, take a look at his website. Just google Alder Cove Capital. The FAQs are especially useful.
Oh, by the way, he and his wife live in West Seattle!

    Hello,
I am interested in meeting with you to discuss the opportunity of caring for you little son. I am a West Seattle mom of grown kids with previous experience in Childcare settings as well as early childhood focus in school. I have had many years experience in health care, and am actually going back to school online. Your hours needed are ideal for me, but the main reason I would like to be a nanny is that I find the greatest, most honest joy being with children. I appreciate the importance of those everyday moments in development and am always in awe of the sheer brilliance of children. So much to be inspired by on the daily. You would have an ever smiling, capable, caring, active, funny compassionate, respectful nanny should we connect and decide this is the best fit. Please email me to gather further contact info and to possibly arrange an interview. Thank you

I’m female, senior citizen, overweight, live in a full-service bldg in Alaska Junction with a gym. Am looking for a twice weekly exercise partner, preferably female, looking for support in doing exercise. Would like T, TH Sat, Sun a.m.s, combination thereof, we would meet at my bldg and use my gym, so you could get the workout without the cost. Must sign a waiver. I’m just hoping to find someone who will show up, so I have to show up, and support each other. I’m thinking 1/2 hour the first week, then work up to an hour twice a week. Open to discussion, ideas.

I know it makes a difference. I once lived in a rental unit on Cap Hill that had a gas furnace. It was very old and neither the furnace nor the ducts were ever cleaned or serviced. I could tell when the heat was about to kick on because I would get a taste in the back of the throat. That would be the air starting to move through the vents and kicking out a little dust. I don’t know how often one should have the ducts cleaned: we had it done at the house when we got a new furnace and put in an ionic air filter and have been happy with that.

For emergency notaries, places that offer bail bonds require a notary, and are open 24/7. Unless there has been a change in Washington state law in the past five years that I haven’t heard about.

This information was provided in a recent alert sent out by our Arbor Heights Block Watch captains. I’ve added a few details after speaking with the victim, who is both my neighbor and a respected member of our community.

On Saturday, January 27th, she was walking her dogs near 39th Ave SW & SW 105th St. It was around noon, quiet, no one else on the street. She was approached by a man who pretended to bend over to pet her dogs. When he stood up, he had arranged his clothing in order to fully expose himself. She did not react, but turned and walked away. He then walked back toward the elementary school on 105th. He was described as: 6’3” tall, big Caucasian guy, curly black hair, clean-shaven, in his 30’s. He was wearing flimsy short blue shorts (with no undergarments), grey hoodie, and faded blue baseball hat. An incident report is on file, and community members notified the school.

It’s impossible to say whether or not this individual actually resides in Arbor Heights, but it seems reasonable that the larger West Seattle community should be on alert.

I’ve had migraines since I was a teenager. I’ve mostly controlled them through diet. There are several classes of migraine inducing foods. For me, chocolate and eggs are the big triggers. (Yes, there is life after chocolate).
One resource that was very helpful was a book by Robert Kohlenberg. It included a finger temperature monitor, which changed color with changes in finger temp. This reflected changes in blood flow. It gave a really graphic picture of migraine-inducing situations so that you could do deep relaxation exercises to counter the migraine precursor. The book also had lots of info about migraine inducing foods.
There are migraine meds that are not narcotic. Seeing a neurologist could be helpful.

My migraines aren’t daily should had stated that but they are too frequent, had 12 last year some were twice in one month but my “normal/regular” headaches are daily. :>(
Thought about seeing a neurologist as KatherineL stated(thank you) but not too many close by, don’t like driving to far out of the neighborhood (getting old I guess) LOL and even thought about botox injections.
I’ve gotten 3 good ideas/advice above and I will check into all of them. Thanks so much.

Waikiki: sorry you are suffering. Started having migraines at 8 after a head injury which only worsened over the next several years due to more head/neck injuries (and lots of heading in soccer)-personally found relief as a teenager with chiropractic care and went from a couple migraines/month to maybe 2/year. It continues to help me manage things some 30 years later.

I also did quite a bit of research on other “triggers” (mostly structural from all the previous injuries) but also discovered some dietary, some environmental etc… found a great deal of help in a book I have recommended to many others called, How to Heal your Headaches by Buchholtz, MD I think it is. More recently have done some more investigation with great relief/results from doing the Whole 30 plan with specific re-introduction.

Hope you can get some help.
