I have a Merlin app that can identify birds by their call. A few days ago it picked up on an American Barn Owl. I googled and found that someone had a sighting in Schmitz park in 2020. I also see a comment in forum about an 8 year old getting scratched in Lincoln Park.
It was in the morning when my app heard it. I do feed the birds so, I have a lot of birds and squirrels.
I guess the Barn owl eat small rodents but also can die if people try to exterminate rats with poison.I live down by Delridge on Brandon and feed the birds. Kind of curious if others have seen one. Thanks. JRH
Hiya and good morning!
So here is my ideal situation…Might as well ask!
~You are a person that LOVES dogs, but currently does not have one.
~You work from home M-F and are an early riser.
~You are flexible in that this wouldn’t be a weekly ask, just when traveling opportunities take dog’s mum away from her.
~You have knowledge and experience in caring for animals.
~You want to make some extra $$.
~You are a good communicator and reliable.I am looking for a person that my dog can stay with during the day for various length’s of time (days in the week). Meaning…when I am traveling, my partner would bring our dog to you on his way to work (early) and then pick her back up around 4:00 on the days he goes to work M-F.
If you are interested in talking more about what this could look like…Please write back!
Thanks so much!!!
I’ve been trying to work out who owns a particular house in the States, mostly out of curiosity but also because my cousin is thinking about making an offer on a small place in Florida. In the UK it’s fairly straightforward with the Land Registry, but the US system feels a bit fragmented. I’m wondering how people usually go about this without hiring a solicitor straight away. Is it realistic to find reliable ownership details online, or do you always hit a wall unless you pay or know where to look?

YasminHi WS neighbors,
Ive lived in West Seattle the past five years and I’m working on a side project focused on helping small local businesses understand where their money is really going with suppliers (coffee, food, delivery apps, utilities, packaging, POS systems, etc.).I’m looking for 2–3 local business owners (coffee shops, childcare, gyms, restaurants, retail, etc.) who would be open to letting me do a free “supplier checkup” for them.
It’s not salesy and there’s no obligation, I just analyze where costs, risks, or missed opportunities might exist with vendors and share a simple report with what I find.
I’m doing the first few for free so I can learn, refine the model, and (if it’s useful) get feedback.
If you own a small business here in West Seattle and are curious, feel free to comment or DM me at lemkeaustin@gmail.com— Happy to explain more. Thanks!

Hello!
We are looking for an “in person” Spanish-language tutor for our 3rd grader. We have found online lessons but those are not a great fit. She speaks some Spanish but we’ve had difficulty keeping her engaged after completing kindergarten in Spanish. One of her parents is a native speaker but she’s not interested in learning from her parents (understandably). Please send me your referrals or recommendations!
