Hey all. I was finally able to rescue my clothes! But it was a huge ordeal!

I spoke to the owner of the cofre place next door and they said things like these have been happening over the last decade and the owner of that place is completely AWOL…

I brought my toolbox to unscrew a panel to get to the back of the machine thinking if I could unplug it maybe it would unlock. But it being an industrial machine it had a thick cable going to the back of a column I couldn’t access…

I tried calling customer service from the manufacturers and got a “please call back during business hours” message!

Jeez… finally started to experiment just pressing all the buttons, holding them for long periods of time… I don’t know what I did but suddenly the machine popped and unlocked!!!

So I went next door and asked them for a sticky note to put on the machine to warn others…

Suffice to say I will NEVER go back to that place and I’m putting 1 star reviews for it everywhere I can.

    What a nightmare!

Would using something to force open the machine be acceptable in this case? If owner has no contact information is that legal (or normal) under Seattle business license laws/requirements?

Hi, sorry to hear this, I don’t have contacts but one more place to check for a phone number is the Seattle city business license database – might be the same number but often is not. Just google to find the DB. Good luck – Tracy

Does anyone know who owns the Olympic Heights Laundry place up on 35th? Or how to contact them? Yesterday I went to do laundry and their machine threw an error and it won’t open the door! Two thirds of my clothes are in it!

The only number I found online is disconnected. I went back at closing time thinking someone must come close the place for the night but it’s all automated, no one came!

I opened a support ticket through the app used for payment but they only do the money movement so they replied “we’ve let management at Olympic heights laundry know” but I’m at the mercy of them ever seeing that message!

Does anyone have any leads? I feel like I’d want to take a toolbox and try to take down the machine’s door somehow!!!

If you drove by the front of the residence on 36th Ave SW you probably weren’t able to see the downhill carnage. Drive uphill on Admiral and just before the flashing “this is your speed” sign look up that slope or better yet just pull over for a safer look.

Followed city codes and rules for 4 decades as a landscape designer/contractor and that work on the ECA slope is absolutely illegal. Also there is no approved “topping for view” rule, period.

Further up the hill at the actual pull out for the city view, the decisions ahead and likely heavy pruning to open that sacred view again will really open the door for more of the view pruning. They’ve let all the downslope native growth just do it’s thing for many years and the view is pretty much nonexistent in the growing seasons. Will be interesting for sure…

Has anyone reported the illegal pruning by the residents on 36th Ave SW along the east facing slope of the steep hillside above Admiral Way. Terrible, messy and certainly non-permitted for the ECA slope and all the debris just left in a jumbled mess. This cannot be allowed to continue!

Also in North Admiral there’s been another swath of heavy, destructive pruning and tree falling on Bonair Street. Looks like this might be a city project but trying to clarify.

I live near the Southwest Community Center (Westwood Village area), so I’m sure I’m not hearing the same hum you are, but I discovered years ago that the huge ventilation fans on the roof of the center create the kind of noise you are describing. About once a year, the maintenance team would go up and clean them and inadvertently changing the direction in which the fans faced. When they face east, there’s not much of a problem because there are fewer homes in that direction, on that level, but when they face west, they really disturb those of us whose homes are directly across the way. I suggest you look for similar circumstances in your area. I.e., commercial buildings with mega-fans on the roof. I hope this helps you locate the source of your hum.
