erincorrineMemberI need to have a dress altered for a wedding this summer. All of the above good recommendations for that as well, or were they more geared toward the pants hemming?
Thanks!

gambaruParticipantWe’ve sent our dog to Stella Ruffington’s on California by Cafe Ladro. It used to be The Tail Wag. They do doggie day care and boarding. The dogs get a lot of love and attention. One day they turned on the bubble machine for the dogs to chase around. Another day they put on a doggie DVD, which believe it or not, the dogs watch… On a hot day, they put out a kiddie pool. They know my dog by name and it’s nice to see that she runs in everytime we drop her off.
If you are boarding your dog, for an extra $5, they will add a trip to the dog park.

addParticipantYes – a great wine section, actually – with a helpful wine expert who’s usually always there. Lots of different beers, too. (Beer and wine are at opposite ends of the store.)

AnonymousInactiveThat’s awesome! Thank you for the recommendation! I plan on stopping by today and checking it out! I’ll say that I was recommended from the blog, people love to hear that!
Do they have wine and beer?
AnonymousInactiveIs the “language training” so that everyone can sit down with tea and discuss why they all hate us so much? I think that is a fantastic idea! I am certain that a good old conversation is the only thing we needed to do regarding the unrest in this world against us!!
Sorry for the sarcasm, it’s just ludicrous to me! That seems like the WORST thing that someone could be proposing to do right now!

addParticipantI’ll chime in that the folks at the WS T-way are very generous to the community as well – always donating good stuff to schools/other charities and other nice deeds such as the fundraiser barbecues for breast cancer, etc.
I love that place too! Especially the great cheese samples! :)
AnonymousInactiveSo we will be the only country without nuclear weapons, while every other country is completely armed with everything and anything imaginable?
How is this a good idea?
Don’t Democrats always talk about how much everyone else hates Americans and, yet, we are thinking that weakening our military is a good idea?
It has been stated time and time again how dangerous pulling out of the this war would be. How is Obama going to end the war?

AnonymousInactiveNR, it just kitty corner from the beverage place pub we were at a couple weeks ago. Morgan Junction. And yes it’s a regular grocery store.

SueParticipantNew Resident, the Thriftway is at the intersection of Morgan/California/Fauntleroy – same corner as the Tully’s. And it’s a full supermarket. It’s my favorite place to shop for groceries in WS. And I’ve never once noticed what the staff were wearing there. :)
AnonymousInactiveThese are some of the things he wants to spend money on and I’ll look into it more later.
# Expand the Military: We have learned from Iraq that our military needs more men and women in uniform to reduce the strain on our active force. Obama will increase the size of ground forces, adding 65,000 soldiers to the Army and 27,000 Marines.
# New Capabilities: Obama will give our troops new equipment, armor, training, and skills like language training. He will also strengthen our civilian capacity, so that our civilian agencies have the critical skills and equipment they need to integrate their efforts with our military.
# Strengthen Guard and Reserve: Obama will restore the readiness of the National Guard and Reserves. He will permit them adequate time to train and rest between deployments, and provide the National Guard with the equipment they need for foreign and domestic emergencies. He will also give the Guard a seat at the table by making the Chief of the National Guard a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

AnonymousInactiveI heard that they are going to close down the Admiral Safeway for 2 years for renovations.
All I can think about, if they do, is the terrible crowds at the already terribly crowded Jackson Square Safeway!!!!
So, btw, where is this Thriftway? Is it just like a grocery store or more like a Walgreens/Rite Aid?
AnonymousInactiveThese are the quotes conservatives are upset about from the video.
“First, I’m the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president, I will end it.
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems…and I will institute an independent Defense Priorities Board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal I will not develop new nuclear weapons…I will seek a global ban on the development of fissile material…and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off of hair-trigger alert…and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.â€

JimmyGMemberJenV, I don’t need a chill pill thank you very much.
Nowhere in my OP did I say that Thriftway “needs classin’ up”, that was entirely your misreading of the post.
And from there you jumped me with both barrels.

barmargiaMemberJenV absolutely right about Admiral Safeway…is that not the scuzziest safeway anywhere? I find myself driving over and dealing with the terrible parking at the 42nd safeway, just because it’s so much nicer
AnonymousInactiveI could look into it, I know, but which “military expenditures” are we talking about here? Any specifics to this plan?
May 28, 2008 at 10:30 pm #625499In reply to: Pimp My Grocery Store
JenVMembermaybe we can split a chill pill? My post came out twice as serious sounding as it should have. My apologies. Geez. You think T-way needs classin’ up, you should head over to the Admiral Safeway.
the thing is, I remember what the Tway was like before they burned it down and re-built it. It’s more than classed up enough pour moi.

JimmyGMemberWe travel a lot, and mostly do what flowerpetal suggests, trading dogs with other doggie-owning friends. But sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
For those times we use SuperFunHappyDog. They do daycare and boarding, and best of all they pick up and deliver to West Seattle in the SFHD bus. Our dog loves the place.

JimmyGMemberTake a chill pill there JenV, this wasn’t a rant.
I like what they’re doing to the store and would have continued to shop there even if they weren’t doing the updating. I was merely letting everyone know about the improvements to our local grocery store.
The fact I didn’t like to see ratty-ass jeans and T-shirts on the employees was because it didn’t look professional. Especially since they aren’t marketing themselves as “Grocery Outlet”.
Don’t be such a hater…
May 28, 2008 at 10:17 pm #625495In reply to: Back alley pavement
JimmyGMemberI know across the street from us the alley isn’t paved and when a few of the neighbors in that block wanted to pave it the cost to each homeowner was around 10 grand each. And this was about 10 years ago.
They didn’t do it as not everyone on the block was willing to pay that amount, so it remains unpaved, unusable to everyone in the middle of the block, and there are still hurt feelings over the decision.
It seems to me a paved and usable alley would increase the value of a home. I know we really like having our paved (and city -maintained) alley.

JenVMemberjeans on game days? yes, heaven forbid they should be comfortable at work. you must work at Safeco- where casual Fridays have never been allowed.
if WS T-way isn’t classy enough for ya, maybe you should have your butler do the shopping next time.
