Thank you, imanon and bodhi. Thank you for responding with openness and transparency; I appreciate your real research, shared concerns and for taking so much time to thoughtfully respond to my post. I’m aware that a contractor for SCL is replacing all meters, however the person who showed up in our yard to switch out our meter was actually an SCL employee. He identified he was in the neighborhood that day replacing meters for solar panel customers. Apparently solar panel customers are technically not eligible to opt out, which is in part what prompted my outrage. I wish we all felt empowered enough to speak up in limiting our exposure to RF and/or EMF. Luckily, we have learned that our family is protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act to opt out regardless of having solar panels, and that we do not have to pay any monthly or one time penalty fee to opt out, because my daughter has a disability that is impacted by RF and EMF. BTW, there are many disabilities covered under this category, the most common ones being ADD/ADHD, MS, depression, anxiety, etc. I’m happy to educate anyone interested in trying to advocate for their family.

For those out there feeling too victimized to question SCL and similar systems, or too defended to acknowledge the reality that RF and EMF are no different from how we thought of cigarettes in the 60s, even SCL acknowledged that the waves emitted by ‘smart’ meters cause enough harm that some ‘sensitive individuals’ will notice symptoms from its use. One supervisor at SCL shared that the ‘smart’ meters installed here in Seattle have not shown to cause “as much” harm as the ones being in installed in the rest of the country but that she did in fact understand my concerns.

Dog Walking / Sitting

Dog Walking is Monday – Friday between 10:00am & 3:00pm. We have occasional weekend and evening walks. This service is for those busy pet parents who work long hours during the week. Our clients rely on us to care for their dogs. You must be committed to walking dogs daily and prepared to work in all types of weather.
Dog Sitting is only offered to our dog walking clients. Service offered 7 days a week between 7am – 8pm.

Cat Sitting

Length of cat sit is dependent upon the length of the clients trip, usually once or twice per day. This includes weekends and holidays. This service is for those who travel and want their cats to stay in the comforts of their own home. Service offered 7 days a week between 8am – 7pm.

Overnight Pet Sitting

Overnights are for those pet parents who don’t want to leave their pets alone overnight due to various reasons. You would need to stay in the clients home for a minimum of 10 – 12 hours depending on your pet sitting schedule. Service is offered 7 days a week.

The Huffington post article is kind of a joke. It is interesting that they point out science, then theirs is so flawed. To comment about wavelengths being long and therefore unable to harm the brain is bogus. Microwave ovens have a wavelength of about 12cm, do they think that couldn’t cause any problems? I’m not suggesting that a 1200 watt oven is the same here, but if they are going to talk science, at least base it on something legitimate. I purposefully don’t sleep with my cell phone next to my head, do you? People’s SCL meters could be anywhere on the house, so…

As for the general comments regarding cell phones, WiFi, etc… That all may be true, but no one is requiring that you have WiFi or a cell phone. And if KEH’s question was “does anyone else have concerns”, clearly your particular answer is ‘no’. Which is fine. As for imanon’s points regarding data gathering and your response to it… It’s concerning if you’ve just got the attitude of throwing your arms in the air and burying your head in the ground. I’m sorry to hear that you don’t have concerns about all the data gathering (which you can do things to help, btw; VPNs and Tor to name a couple) companies are doing. That ambivalence is part of the problem.

It is interesting that you both attack someone that was just asking if anyone else was concerned about these risks that were noted in the film and certainly plenty of other sources. I think KEH was also speaking to his/her desire to opt out and the perceived sneakiness of someone found in his/her yard attempting to replace the meter. These are all valid concerns, whether you agree with the health risk part or not.

Magazines, your browsing history, your own use of WiFi and cell phones, and credit card tracking are all things that you do have some control over. If SCL is forcing folks to use a controversial meter and people like KEH or imanon aren’t asking questions, we’re headed in a bad direction. Maybe KEH should have said RF radiation, if that makes it more clear to folks talking about radiation from the sun and what not. Totally missing the point. Regardless of your political leanings, I think we can all agree that the government (FCC, in this case) isn’t always acting in our best interests. (I call out the FCC as the body that determines ‘healthy’ vs ‘unhealthy’ amounts of RF radiation.)

Be open to those that question the status quo and want the power to choose.

Hi All, I would like to share these classes with you. My husband and I attended Kathy Abascal’s January/February session.
After the 21 day elimination phase we began to feel so much better. My husband has eliminated his heart burn and snores much less (thank goodness!). I have been having fewer headaches and the bursitis in my elbow in gone, and my cholesterol has gone from 218 to 118. Not to mention a big bonus, the 7 lbs I have lost, and 21 lbs for my husband.
She is beginning a new session on April 22 and you will seriously be doing yourself a favor to join in. You can go in person or attend a live online class too.

I first moved down to the Emerald City in 1996 from Alaska to go to AIS for Computer Animation. After having lived in “almost” every neighborhood in the metro area of Seattle (Belltown, Waterfront, lower and upper Queen Anne, First Hill, Capitol Hill, Northgate, the U District, and some east-side neighborhoods as well) I signed up for a 6 month lease in 2002 for a mother-in-law style bottom floor “apartment” in the Admiral Junction. I thought it was too far from everything and I’d leave after the 6 month lease. That 6 months quickly turned into TEN YEARS before my landlord passed away and we had to move down to Alki. My girlfriend, our dogs and I loved living off Alki for a good 3 & 1/2 years before a private firm in Eastlake bought the property from the original owners and tried to jack our rent from $1,500/month to $2,150/month. After a rather absurd back & forth we ended up staying for 6 more months at $1,750/month while looking for a new place here in WS.

Lucky us, we found a perfect spot just off Delridge, a few blocks from Westwood Village that was great for us! So great, we ended up buying it from our once landlords (now friends). We’ve loved this neighborhood and almost everyone in it (specifically our direct neighbors! Not so much the fireworks jerks but hey, what can ya do?) for the past 4 years and it’s going to be really hard not running down to the local grocery and saying “HI!” to Sam, Heather, Che, and everyone else at a moment’s notice. I’m going to miss the cherry blossoms and the sounds of cheers coming from games going on at Chief Sealth. I’m going to miss having out of state family & friends visit and taking them on the scenic beach drive out to Salty’s for the best brunch in the region! I’m going to miss the amazing fresh seafood and the incredibly talented & creative people preparing/serving it.

Most of all, I’m going to miss the West Seattle “vibe”. I knew within a month of moving into a cramped 6′ ceiling basement apartment that this was the best area I had ever lived. That was as a younger, single guy though. Now my family’s needs have changed and we need to focus on better career options and lower cost of living so we are moving to Austin, TX. A place where we can get our daughter into preschool without a multi-year wait, exorbitant price, or both. Also a place we can get a 4 bed, 3 bath, 2 car garage “house” for less than we still owe on our 2 bed 1&1/2 bath townhouse. Also a place where the best school in the region is only $6K/ semester for residents compared to UW. I’ve been in tech for over 20 years in increasingly more lucrative roles and there is sadly, simply no way I can afford to give the quality of life and education to my wife and daughter that they deserve while staying here.

I’m sure I’ll keep checking in to see what going on “back home” and I really hope we can move back in 5-6 years after degrees have been earned and my daughter has been acclimated to schools and such but no matter what, West Seattle will always be “Best Seattle” to me.

Again, a fond farewell to all of you, my soon to be former neighbors and I wish you nothing but the best going forward.

If you never heard of Lake kachess, then I suggest you visit it before they pump it down.
The State has already spent 3.5 million of tax payer dollars, maybe not your dollars if you don’t own property, BUT they plan on spending millions more when and if they get approval for the pumping plant.
And regarding Salmon which can not enter the lake because there is a Dam, even after Washington state lost in federal court and is required to eliminate barriers to Salmon, the State wants to pump the lake down another 80 feet and does NOT want to build a fish ladder.

It’s pretty crappy to just leave it where it was if you were able to move it. Your demand that you should be compensated is ridiculous. It says far more about you than it does about the company.

It has been there for a week now.
I guess that answers the question of does Jump keep there bikes if good condition.
Like do they charge the batteries?

Hello, in my 20 years of house/pet sitting I have only done over night. As stated before, I have plenty of experience with birds and every creature from fish to horses. Currently the two Yorkies we have are rescues, also the other 24 we have owned over 30 years. Rescues are unique with each one having different issues and special needs due to the unpleasant life they were raised and exposed to. It’s a package deal and there is always unexpected behavior challenges, one must know and be prepared when making the decision to bring home a rescue. Patience and acceptance are a must bringing a rescue to your home. We have had the most joy and happiness watching them change when they finally believe they are safe and this is home, where there is no shortage of love from my roommate and me. They are worth the extra effort and care, and deserve to have a ‘normal dog’ life. Please ask any questions you may need answered
