Censored.wsbParticipantPlease plan on visiting Lake Kachess this year, it may be the last time you see it full.
The Bureau of Reclamation and the Washington State Department of Ecology is planning on pumping the lake down another 80 feet to send more water to Sunnyside Washington.
The State has already spent 350 million on study. Kachess Drought Relief Pumping Plant

buttercupParticipantIt’s interesting , many years ago the diverted water from the Dalton Sea to help after irrigate crops. It’s was great for farmers, a disaster for the people of the area. Lake is almost gone, killed all fish in lake, business and towns closed up, poverty rampant, and now a plan is being put in place to eventually raise the water level again and help the area become prosperous again. By the way, when I refer to farmers I don’t mean family type farms, these are the large corporate business who sell toned and frozen produce etc. I hate to see Lake Kachees have the same thing happen. Must be a better way.

Censored.wsbParticipantI am surprised that a dog pooping in a park gets more response then the destruction of a beautiful lake.

newnativeParticipantBecause dogs poop in West Seattle parks and your all caps posting is about a place not in West Seattle.

newnativeParticipantIt has nothing to do with “the rules”, you were comparing the comments for this topic and a local one. I gave you a likely cause. I never heard of this lake before.

Censored.wsbParticipantIf you never heard of Lake kachess, then I suggest you visit it before they pump it down.
The State has already spent 3.5 million of tax payer dollars, maybe not your dollars if you don’t own property, BUT they plan on spending millions more when and if they get approval for the pumping plant.
And regarding Salmon which can not enter the lake because there is a Dam, even after Washington state lost in federal court and is required to eliminate barriers to Salmon, the State wants to pump the lake down another 80 feet and does NOT want to build a fish ladder.
