“I also share widespread concerns about the liberal use of the word “Nazi” in everyday speech”

If they look, quack, and goose-step like a nazi, chances are… They have at the VERY LEAST nazi sympathetic views and act on them even if only passive-aggressively.

Groups that voice hate against anyone “other” simply for their place of birth or other individual characteristic instead of the ideas they present, actively promote violence against groups of people for things entirely outside of their control, and follow the playbook of nazis? Yeah, shame them by pointing out they are nazis. If that label isn’t enough to make people think about what they’ve been supporting what can? Where is the line drawn? If you have to wait until they put on the red & black swastika arm-band before you feel they can be called out? They will grow far faster than we can combat. Not okay. We really don’t need to get to another World War if we can nip this in the bud now by simply shaming them out of the limelight. No violence required or actual citizens being put in harm’s way.

SHORT STORY: BEWARE of middle-aged man lurking around, approaching anyone he encounters and yelling obscenities (racial slurs, derogatory words) around the Holy Rosary neighborhood! He appears unstable and as of today, very dangerous.

He repeatedly makes his rounds throughout the morning, day and night.

While the neighborhood has seen and encountered him before in the past few months, his frequency is increasing, as is his aggression.

LONG STORY: I am writing this warning because just tonight around 5:00 pm I had a fearful run-in with him. I had seen and heard him throughout the day, and thankfully my guard was up as I had just been hearing him what sounded like banging on cars down 41st, off Dakota.

He aggressively approached as I was going from my alley gate to my car parked in front of my garage. As I closed my gate, he quickened his pace coming off Dakota, coming at me, yelling obscenities I can’t repeat here but also saying, “I’m going to shred you.” I didn’t turn around and quickly got in my car and locked the door, to find him already at the trunk. He had (again, he did it just 30 minutes earlier and I put it back) ripped out something in the ground on our property, and was yelling at me in the car and waving the object, before he threw it. Worried he was going to break my window in but also not wanting to aggravate him more by nearly running him over to back up, I let the car roll and thankfully the movement got him also to meander on.

He continued down the alley, screaming about me, approaching the neighbor’s fence and then fiddling with their garage. I reversed and watched him continue to wander around, yelling.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with a white graphic on it, a grey sweatshirt with the hood up, black gloves with white skeletons on the tops of the hands and a small duffle like bag.

I moved my car to the front of my house and as I was totally shaken, went to the neighbors house to calm down. I did call the police, but not soon enough. Police said if he returns to call immediately.

Well, he returned just an hour or so later, harassing another neighbor woman when thankfully the same neighbor I ran to after my incident came out to try and protect her and take a picture of him. He quickly fled to the Holy Rosary playground.

BEWARE EVERYONE, BUT ESPECIALLY WOMEN AND CHILDREN!

He’s been seen before lurking around, watching young girls at the playground. I also believe this is the same person who tried to break into my front door in the early evening, with all my lights on, almost this same time last year, because the suspect who did that was talking aggressively under his breath, had the same shuffle/schlep and that incident had an eerily similar feeling to today’s.

CALL THE POLICE IF YOU SEE HIM.

I’ve tried several times to clarify my original comment, but the attempts have been futile. One more try…
I was not accusing the OP of being a Russian bot, so sorry if that was the (mis)interpretation. I was merely pointing out that there has been a long-standing and still active Russian ploy to create more racial tension and division in our country. I also share widespread concerns about the liberal use of the word “Nazi” in everyday speech – even though it’s not far off the mark in reference to the Proud Boys. Does that mean I think we should be tolerant of their message (which is also extremely misogynistic)? Oh, HELL no. What I am concerned about is that we are becoming that which we hate, and the hypocrisy embodied in such statements. The antifa movement is actually a good example.
Meanwhile, our country is swirling around the toilet bowl while we rage on about who is the biggest hater and who is to blame – rather than looking at ourselves, and how we got here. Russia couldn’t be more pleased.

Just the other day a neighbor was telling me about issues she is having with school buses pulling out of 104th from AHE onto 35th. Two weeks in a row, a particular driver has run up over the curb hitting her garbage cans, then dragged the cans several blocks. The sidewalk project has contributed to the problem; there have been multiple accidents/sideswipes/vehicles running up over the curbs as the street has been narrowed to a dangerous degree. If Metro is having trouble finding good drivers, I can’t imagine that First Student is doing any better. I would think that your insurance company would demand to see the video that FS is using as “evidence”.

My ex-husband was runover by a First Student school bus. He was waiting at a stop light and the bus turned left right over him. he realized she wasn’t stopping as he saw the tire rolling towards him and he injured himself getting out of the car. After dragging the car some feet, she stopped. After the cop arrived and took down their information, the driver wanted to finish her route. The cop looked at her and told her, “uh, no, we’ve called the child’s parents and you will not be driving this child home.” While they admitted fault to the accident, they denied his injury claim.

all i can do is sigh and hope that rationalizations like yours encourage people who don’t think this next election matters to vote.

Your President mocked a woman who reluctantly came forward to tell her story and who stated that her most painful memory from that episode was the laughter of the young men. He not only allowed an entire audience of supports to laugh at her.. he encouraged them.

i would love to hear how you rationalize that.

as for the link to Think Progress.. what i linked to was the clip of Shaw saying exactly what the article reports he said…

to paraphrase.. the FBI asked the questions the people who mattered thought were important.. the people controlling the process. The questions the democrats on the committee wanted answered weren’t important because they were just politically exploiting the situation.

the “situation” the democrats were “exploiting” was accusations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh by more than one woman backed by sworn affidavits sent to the FBI by witnesses to the pattern of conduct… and lies told during the hearing.

allegation and affidavits the FBI did not explore because they weren’t part of their mandate.. the mandate from people who mattered.

Democrats didn’t encourage Kavanaugh to hang out with the crowd of frat boys who bragged about drinking to excess and sexually harassing women. Democrats didn’t lie about his participation.

but hey.. maybe you can find a way to blame Hillary. She was older and wiser than Kavanaugh at the time and she didn’t stop him.

Totally agree with you jm18! I’ve been nearly hit three times in the last month while crossing the street. Drivers are not used to pedestrians crossing and they just don’t watch out for them while making a turn.

I’d love to hear suggestions for how not to get hit while crossing. Now, I just don’t cross if I see a car waiting to make a turn.

OK, challenge accepted…Your post above states in the affirmative of J242’s. “J242 i wish slapping would knock some sense into Kavanaugh supporters…” If that isn’t condoning violence – it is tacit approval at least. But we can split hairs all you like.

Thank you for your link to the liberal Think Progress. I had already read that. I try to stay informed around all sides, as mentioned – I’m more of a centrist than either way. I prefer to hear both sides, judge merit and vote conscience. Not letter.

As to your characterization of the investigation. Yes, I believe it was lacking and if you thoroughly read my post (as I have yours) you would see that I agree. The lack of attention to the detail about SENATOR Diane Feinstein (ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee – 11R and 10D members) having Dr Ford’s letter 2 months before “popping” it into the consciousness of the American public is the grave issue. Something happened to Dr Ford, that I have no doubt. But WHAT was it that happened….Should I provide you links to suggestive right wing articles? As you have provided left wing… That will go nowhere. The fact that Feinstein et. al. did nothing with the information before marching Dr Ford in front of America is an absolute shame. I don’t know if you watched any of the hearings, but that poor woman wanted to be anywhere else on Earth. All for the sake of playing politics. To deny this removes any credibility.

Did Kavanaugh drink to excess? Well, left leaning websites and pundits certainly think there are witnesses to affirm. Names were named, and interviewed. As for lies and perjury…I have been unable to locate any proven transgressions. Please cite any sources that have proven accusations, we can forward them onto the FBI. The FBI, who by the way is no friend of the current president has been unable to substantiate any accusations. At least that’s what the confidential report summarized. What it really said, I’d LOVE to know….

You can point to the weakness of my argument all you like. The facts, as we know them back “my argument”. The candidate was thoroughly vetted (several background checks over several years) Accusations made and then promptly sat on by Sen. Feinstein et. al. (To deny or gloss over this removes any credibility of the left) Surreptitiously followed up on by a hasty FBI investigation (asked for by a member of the majority party) No corroborative evidence found by the names named by the 2 “more credible” accusers. IMHO, Swetnick has zero credibility. Also “investigated” were the claims of high school and college classmates by names named there. So, they (FBI) didn’t find anything damning. At least that WE, the People, know of. I hope to believe the FBI does not act at the whim of any person or interest. They certainly aren’t in the Russia probe.

SIDE NOTE – I completely agree with you that the president’s actions in Mississippi are disgusting. As I said, something happened to Dr Ford, and that should never be made light of. And as for the posting lag time, I have noticed too that it takes posts from 935 several HOURS to appear on this board. I am not certain what is going on at HQ. As for November? Well – time for the left and the right to energize their bases. The right usually turns out for midterm elections….But either way you can be assured that this travesty will be well used by BOTH sides to generate revenue and further divide the nation. Innocent until proven guilty is a legal standard applied in criminal court. It is not a standard that must be applied anywhere else. This is a common misconception.

Kavanaugh is not in front a of a criminal court.

Numerous witnesses, not Democrats but people who know him, have come forward and had “interesting” things to say about him. Things that have moved more than 500 law professors to denounce him and to cause Harvard to cut him from their faculty. Harvard can hardly be said to be a bastion of left-wing thought.

As to Ford: she didn’t come forward on her own, she was outed by someone else. That this led other women who’s been harassed or worse by Kavanaugh doesn’t affect her credibility OR impugn the credibility of other women. Why, reasonable people (well, some of you people reading this) , would someone come out and make such an accusation knowing that they’ll be dragged through the mud and raked over the coals? Oddly, those screeching “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!” are not granting the accusers the same right. They are assumed to be lying gold-digging harpies out to exact some amorphous revenge or the like.

For those who want to bring the specter of Clinton and his lying about his affair with Lewinsky: yes. Clinton lied. He was impeached. The Republican senate chose not to convict. In like fashion, Kavanaugh told numerous lies under oath during the confirmation hearings. Lies that he was called out for by the committee. After being caught he would double down on those lies. Granted, many of those lies were as important as lying about affairs (as opposed to matters of realpolitik) but are lies none the less. I guess to those who would rabidly support the Kavanaugh’s and Trump’s of the world truth is only a convenient bludgeon. After all, Trump’s been lying the entire time he’s been a national embarrassment and I mean from the 1980’s.

I accept that Kavanaugh will be confirmed but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. He’s another Republican scumbag who’ll rant about the Democratic “elites” and will never really understand that he is one of the real elite. Wealthy, Ivy League schools, groomed for positions of power. I will say that Republican’s really don’t seem to have a real grasp on that word, elite.

Jeannie, I assure you I am not passive aggressive. I have to be reserved on this forum as to not be asked to NOT post but I think you for you educating me on what that term means to you. To me it is just a comical statement.

The few times I was able to watch Kavanaugh was in the beginning I found him well spoken, sincere and I believe speaking the truth in what he believed in going into the process. However, when he spoke last, I saw a man defending himself, his career, his family, his beliefs etc. I would have been upset if he wasn’t mad. And if I was being accused of something so terrible and I was innocent, I would be very passionate as well. I guess I will never work for you. I mean that as a joke and not as an insult.

I don’t own my own business but I am in management at a large company in Seattle and I have been at my company for well over 20 years. I’m pretty sure I am well respected based on my own values as well as my company’s values.

I don’t agree that it is Trump alone who has divided this country, I believe we all have a stake in that claim, I hate that I cannot have a civil conversation with most of my friends anymore because they became so angry if you even mention his name. It is sad but true. But people need to own their own behavior, it is so easy to blame on Trump, Putin.

I was not a big Obama fan, nor did I vote for him but on his first election night, I had tears in my eyes knowing that America had taken a huge step forwards in electing him. I was proud of US, I was proud of him. And one of the greatest speakers I have ever heard.

And I am a nice but don’t tell anyone.

This was not a trial – it was a JOB INTERVIEW. T Rex, I don’t know if you own or manage a business, but I sure wouldn’t hire a guy who cries, yells and nose-twitches at an interview. Oh, and repeats his affection for beer over and over.
P.S. “Just saying,” aka “Just sayin'” is classic passive-aggressive. Translates to: “I am saying something obnoxious, but I’m a nice person so don’t be offended.” Even worse than “I might be wrong, but…”
TrumPutin has done a great job of dividing this country, hasn’t he? Whatever happened to the sane, reasonable Republicans? I miss them!

@TRex, Peshmerga, et al: Stop blaming the Democrats. They are not in charge.

To say that the issues that are being investigated are politically motivated, especially in light of a few convictions at this point, is preposterous. The GOP howled for blood and impeached Clinton over a blowjob. What is not being investigated, indicted and convicted are not crimes related to a blowjob. These are all issues that revolves around moral character.Trump has demonstrated over and over, for decades, that he’s a pig. He’s crude, overbearing, boorish and generally revolting. He’s refused to call out the racism that was associated with his ascension by condemning the protesters of said racism and has turned up the volume of his xenophobic leanings.

Kavanaugh is just another in a long line of conniving thugs to be nominated for positions of power that Trump has supported. Why won’t the White House allow his records to be reviewed? All other justices had full transparency of their judicial career, but Kavanaugh gets to his something like 93%. This whole things reeks.

As to Rachel Maddow: she’s not a journalist and I’ve never heard her caller herself one. She’s a pundit. Just like all of the wagging jaws on fox.

My car/wagon was stolen off SW Adams and 30th near the Rapid Ride stop by SW Yancy
between 12:30pm Friday and 9:30am today.

It’s a bronze ’94 SW1 Saturn Wagon. It has bedded in it and clothes and some important stuff I simply forgot was in the car. Without the car, I can’t work my new shift and transport my son to school/activities/etc. I NEED IT ASAP!!!

Yes, I called the cops, no they haven’t come out, yes it’s been over three hours now, yes I will keep bugging them, yes I will go to the station now that I can, no I don’t know who took it, yes I am making up flyers right now, yes I am scouring craigslist, let go, and all the other places people sell stolen stuff, yes it had an alarm, no it doesn’t have gps, and no advice on what I *should’ve* done in necessary.

Please, help me find my car :(

Fwiw, I asked an employee at TJs the other day about the issue of people bringing their pets into the store. She said that they’re not allowed to ask people if their dog is a service dog, but that if a customer complains, they will ask the dog owner if their dog is a service dog. So don’t just passive-aggress or resent your way out of shopping somewhere, ask management if they can do something! I know I will next time. Oh, and one more thing, while I agree that people shouldn’t bring dogs in willy-nilly, I do think that a well behaved support dog should be okay as long as mental health care in this country is such a low priority when it comes to insurance coverage. Many people whose mental health issues are treatable can’t afford treatment and therefore need those support animals. Someone mentioned that to me recently and I thought it was worth consideration. That being said, a big nope on poorly behaved animals and animals in carts.

The Senior Center of West Seattle – in the heart of the junction – is seeking an on-call Friday BINGO CALLER! We have a dedicated, fun group of about 20 bingo players on Fridays. The volunteer position is to fill-in when needed (probably at least one Friday/month) from 10:30-2:30, with a break for your delicious and FREE lunch! The training period is about 3-4 Fridays to learn the machine and the process. If you have always had a desire to call bingo, this is the perfect start to get your feet wet, gain experience and see what you think.
