I don’t think there is any issue with dissenting opinions. It’s part of the reason I enjoy this blog. However, the issue of name calling, personal slurs, and the like are an issue.
TheHouse, I think you are intelligent and witty…and I have told you so. We just don’t agree on much. You “opinions” of me have been insults and I am not certain why. I seldom see you take issues with my arguments, just me personally. (I have theories, but…until you tell me, I won’t assume anything.) The debate offer stands.
NR, as far as I know, no one went running to anyone. If I were our hosts, I would be monitoring these forums, too.
As for name calling and insults, overall, I’ve tried to be good about it (I’ve lost it myself, and I felt the need to post an apology on the forum) but it really needs to end.
As to those that don’t engage in name-calling, I have really seen only that RS, JT, Shibaguyz, JanS, and FullTilt and are the only ones who haven’t engaged in that at all, in spite of heated arguments. (I know there are others, and I apologize if I missed you. You know who you are.)
I know JoB and I discussed that we have to step back and watch our tempers, and the way she crafts her arguments is a joy to read. I seldom see her lose her temper on the blog, either.
