Ok I drive by NV every day. I see what gets thrown out by seeing what is by the dumpster, saw the pile of stuff and persons that got kicked out yesterday, stuff was gone by the am. I am just surprised by how much stuff they had, being that they are homeless. I get that people’s stuff is important, but they had more stuff than could have fit in the back of my pick up truck.
Now I am now seeing several people that were at NV living up in the woods on Meyers Way and on the exit of 509 begging for money, fine again if that is what they want to do. So they must be fine with it.(they don’t have kids just a small dog)
I understand housing is tough as hell to get but I have to totally side with DP and Jiggers. Most choose to live this way. Please understand the ones with mental issues are a separate issue.
The addicts well they can get help, it is out there and make the decision one day at a time to stay sober. It is their CHOICE. I know of a place right now but it is religious based and some people have issues with that. I get that but there is housing and food and showers and toilets.
So I do not think it is about “dignity” it is about choices.
Again when you have piercing all over your face and tattoos it is pretty hard to get a job anywhere(yes I have tattoos but NOT on my face and can be easily covered) unless a tattoo shop or something like that. Then the colored hair again choices, for the most part again someone with green hair and 20 piercings on/in your face is not going to find a job.
Yes there are people that work in tattoo shops that are tat’d up and piercings everywhere but they are an exception.
