i won’t debate the merits of the lyrics of our national anthem. i don’t really have a say in the matter, do i? it was the national anthem before i was born.
so. on technical points alone, aguilera totally effed up the national anthem at the super bowl.
i don’t care that she messed up the lyrics. didn’t notice. don’t care.
her vocals sucked! what’s up with the warbling?! pick a note – and stick with it! – through the entire measure.
jeebus cripes. i wanted to mute it, but it was like watching a train crash into a skyscraper.
and that’s about what it sounded like.
