When using horse manure for compost it is important to let it compost completely as the use of chemical wormers remain in the manure. Some of the dewormers (e.g. Ivermectin) are quite nasty and can even prevent composting and kill off nematodes and red-worms for a while before they break down. However, once completely composted it is wonderful and is one of the only manures that will compost alone without additives.
