firehorse1MemberWe are digging out our manure pit on Friday/Saturday September 26/27th. We have hired a loader and a 10 yard dump truck and will deliver to the West Seattle area. The cost for the load is $100 for the whole 10 yards. The delivery is free. We can also load your truck for $10/yard.
This is wonderful for your garden. We don’t feed whole grains but do feed sunflower seeds so you might get a few growing in your garden.

JanSParticipantnow that sounds like a fun weekend…digging out a manure pit – lol. I don’t have a garden, unfortunately (apt. living), but thanks for sharing for those who do :)

timeslidParticipantWhen using horse manure for compost it is important to let it compost completely as the use of chemical wormers remain in the manure. Some of the dewormers (e.g. Ivermectin) are quite nasty and can even prevent composting and kill off nematodes and red-worms for a while before they break down. However, once completely composted it is wonderful and is one of the only manures that will compost alone without additives.

guidosmomMemberMy horse is at this barn, and I believe much of the manure has been composting on the bottom of the pile for quite some time. I took a small bag of it a few years ago and it was like gold.

BayouMemberWhere’s the barn located? I wouldn’t mind getting a small truck load for my compost and garden.

guidosmomMemberThe barn manager (who posted this) is out of town right now. You can email me if interested and I can give you her email address or the barn owner’s contact info. malarkeymare@gmail.com
