ok smitty.. i went back and linked to your original link. i confess.. i didn’t before because i am lazy and it didn’t much interest me.
but i was wrong. this is a very interesting link… and the dilemna it poses is the most interesting part of it.
Do i think he went too far when he likened blacks who support the Republican party to Jews who collaborated with the Nazis? Certainly he went too far politically. And in my opinion he went too far ethically.
but .. and here is where it gets interesting… he does raise the question of why individuals collaborate with political regimes that are clearly not only against their personal best interests but against that of the ethnic/racial/sexual group they belong to.
i suspect neither side really wanted to touch that one with a ten foot pole… it’s makes everyone way way too uncomfortable.
