Half of the funds raised will benefit local WA filmmaker Brett Hansen as he
overcomes a major surgery. Hansen is a known as a 2014 Emmy Award winner for the TVW documentary “Washington’s Food Fight” about the debate over labeling GMO food.
RISE Now, whose mission is to empower individuals as they find ways to take action in service of others and the environment, also celebrates the success of one of its programs, Play Chiapas. “Last year, with our Play Chiapas Program, we involved nearly 50 volunteers from 4 countries to build 3 creative playgrounds for hundreds of children, saving over 200 tires from the dump or incineration. This year we aim to do even more,” states Bret Ingold, RISE Now Director. Hansen’s most recent film, documenting the playground built in Coralito, will premier at the event.
