Puget Soundkeeper, coordinator of the Sound Sweep Series, is teaming up with communities and partners across the Puget Sound region to host a series of beach cleanup and community science events.
Each year, thousands of pounds of debris enter Puget Sound, from cigarette butts to derelict vessels. The Sound Sweep Series cleanups not only involve debris removal but also ask participants to collect data about the debris found, which is then used to inform environmental policymaking.
Media, volunteers, and local leaders are invited to attend and take part in protecting our waters.
About the Events:
All events are free and open to individuals, families, schools, clubs, and local businesses. Volunteers will receive tools and supplies to safely collect trash and plastic debris. Data collected will support efforts to reduce pollution through legislation and education.CLEANUP EVENTS BY DATE AND LOCATION
