Holy Friday service
Apr 18 @ 8:00 pm in the sanctuary
A contemplative Tenebrae service of readings and songs to remember the moments of deep shadow surrounding Jesus’ crucifixion.

Easter services
Apr 20 @ 6:00 am on Alki beach
Look for a bonfire near 57th Ave. SW to join this rain-or-shine sunrise service, including simple communion, with Alki UCC and Admiral UCC.

Each service will begin by transforming a simple wire cross with beautiful spring flowers; bring a favorite to add or get one at the door. Both services will have a children’s time and conclude with a joyous singing of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” Sunday school for elementary-age children will be available during the 11:00 am service, and nursery care for infants through age 3 will be available during both services.

Easter breakfast
Enjoy a festive breakfast from 9:30-11:00 am in Fellowship Hall. Suggested donation: $10/adult, $5/child.

Egg hunt
At about 12:20, children will hunt for treat-filled eggs hidden on the church grounds.

Easter Sunrise Service on Alki Beach
April 20 at 6:00 am

Look for a bonfire near the bathhouse at 59th Ave SW and join a West Seattle tradition with pastors from Alki, Admiral and Fauntleroy UCC. A short service with communion will be offered. We’ll be there rain or shine, so dress warmly!

Drop-in from 2-5:30p for a self-guided Stations of the Cross art gallery experience exploring key moments in Jesus’s journey to the cross designed for all ages. Background-checked, child care is available for kids 6 and under.

Saturday Great Easter Vigil
(Our big Easter service)
April 19 starting at 6:30p
Childcare and kid activities offered for kids up to age 9.
You can come as early as 6:30 to hang out around the bonfire and drop kids off to their classes.
This is our main Easter service and a high point in our year. The service begins outside of the building around a bonfire (on the gravel near the main entrance ramp on 35th). We begin with a bonfire as a reminder of the fire around which Peter denied Jesus and the bonfire on the beach on which he was later restored by Jesus’s grace. Then, light from that fire makes its way into the darkened church building on a large candle. The service gets brighter as we celebrate what Jesus has done about the darkness of death and injustice: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).

Easter Sunday “Sunrise” Gathering

Join us for breakfast on the Sound. We’ll have a roaring fire in the picnic shelter that faces the Fauntleroy Ferry near the South Parking Lot.

No Easter Sunday Afternoon Service
We gather typically on Sundays at 4p, but on Easter Sunday we won’t be gathering at our usual time.

Maundy Thursday Communion Service 7 PM
Come early to view eight original oil paintings of Christ’s suffering and death and resurrection, which will be displayed in the Commons/narthex on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at 6 PM.. They are the work of local West Seattle artist, Jim Gerlitz.
