On Saturday, August 29, 2025, the Seattle Outrigger Canoe Club will host our 26th annual Da Grind Paddle Races at Alki Beach in West Seattle — welcoming paddlers from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Last year’s race was a huge success, drawing over 15 clubs and 250+ paddlers across outrigger canoes and other small craft — OC1, SUP, surfski, you name it. We’re expecting a similarly great turnout this year, and we’re especially hoping to grow our small craft fleet.

This year features three races:

The 4-mile race, held right in front of Alki, is built for small craft and OC6 crews.

Two 12-mile races — Open and Men’s — are epic pushes that launch from Alki, loop around Blake Island, and finish back at Alki.

It’s a great day, and we welcome everyone to join — whether you’re paddling or cheering from shore.

Spectators are part of what makes Da Grind special. Bring family, friends, camp chairs, and picnic blankets to cheer paddlers to the finish line and soak up the festival atmosphere. Expect a lively start line, great sightlines from the beach, and an encouraging community vibe all day long.

The short race starts at 9 am; the long races kick off at 10 am. Hope to see y’all there!
