Rumble! Beep!

The Vespa enthusiasts who are rallying in Seattle this weekend headed out WS way today. Chris sent us word of his Flickr page with video and pix after spotting the huge group coming off the low bridge. Looks like they were headed to the Fauntleroy ferry dock for a ride to Vashon, so watch out for the procession heading the other way later this afternoon.

wow….how do you fit all of them on a ferry and get the cars and the people on there, too – lol….

The line of Vespas and Lambretta scooters stretched from the south parking lot at Fauntleroy all the way past the north lot. Estimates were between 500 and 750 scooters. I heard they had to get their own boat! It was Strawberry Festival on Vashon Island also this weekend. Probably frazzled the ferry workers.

There was an article in the PI about all the poor scooter owners getting their scooters scooted by folks looking for parking spots.

I read that article…..while I suppose I can sympathize a little, I also understand how frustrating it is to see a parking space (or 3) taken up by a scooter…especially on Capitol Hill, where parking is practically non-existent on a slow day. Good article…

I was toying with the idea of a scooter until reading that article about moving scooters out of parking spots – I’m honestly shocked. I have mobility issues and can’t ride a bike, and I sold my car a year ago. While I usually do the bus, a scooter would be a nice alternative sometimes. But not if I have to deal with the potential hassles of that. Wow.

Sorry, comment time is over.
