Thanks for the tips and photo. A car wound up on the Admiral/Olga embankment a few hours ago and police are blocking bridge-bound traffic on the curve as they work to get it unstuck. So far as we can tell from the logs, no one was hurt in the original incident.
We drove by it. How, why….? One thing almost guaranteed is speed (& wet & curve). On a good day, it’s a crap shoot turning on from Olga.
I was wondering the same thing! I wish I got a picture of it because it was so wild.
Unsure why they were taken down. (Probably too much use) But the gaurdrails that used to be on the uphill curve, need to be reinstalled ASAP. AND signs as large as possible and potentially blinking may be needed on each end of this unsafe sweeping corner alerting drivers of the hazard ahead. Let’s not wait until a pedestrian is injured or worse to care.
I witnessed the entire accident unfold. I was walking a dog in belvidere park when I hear tires screeching, and I look over and see a car basically sideways in the intersection turning from admiral onto 36th ave. The driver then tried to correct the slide but failed and ended up hopping the curb and rolling down the embankment.
Both the alignment of the curving lanes on Admiral & especially 47th are bad. With any excess speed, there’s a surprise & correction needed in the middle of the turn.
When I drove past, teenage driver was sitting in his mother’s car waiting for the police to arrive, she stated her son wrecked the car no one was hurt.
