WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Prime time for package thefts

Quick alert sent by B less than an hour ago, of note since “Prime Day” has likely led to more deliveries: “Just witnessed a package theft from my neighbor’s porch on 11th SW and Holden. Black male passenger jumped out of an I30 Infiniti and right back into the car with a package, then they sped off down Holden toward 16th.” B says the car resembled this stock photo.

Some of the PO Box locations offer to rcv packages from non-box holders for a small fee, so you don’t have to worry about your deliveries getting ‘pirated’.

Try shipping to Amazon Lockers-I especially like using ones located inside -like at  Rite Aid. There may be a size limit -but service is FREE  & easy to use.

I believe the same individuals just stole packages from my front porch around Thistle x 16 Ave SW. I have a video of the individual that I can share.

I think I saw this happen early this morning at Avalon and Genesee, the apartments on the northwest corner. There was a grey Honda sedan parked at an angle, as if rushed, and a woman in a pink hoodie had a big box. They pulled up the street and stopped for a few more minutes.

Amazon.  Ugh.  I encourage everyone to use a different e-commerce site, or better yes, shop locally if you can.

Same thing in North Admiral.  I saw a passenger car slowly driving down the center of our block while a young black male checked out the neighborhood porches after Amazon delivery..  obviously it’s to be able to grab the package and jump in the car right away.  As usual the vehicle did not have any plates so it would be great if they start to be reported, and hopefully towed away.  They can be reported on the Find It, Fix It app as an abandoned car. If you see one parked on the street report it and hope that Parking Enforcement can’t get there quickly and tow it.
