TRAFFIC ALERT: Admiral Way reopens, 14 hours after crash that cut power to thousands

Thanks to the neighbor who’s been keeping us informed with photos and updates from the scene of last night’s crash that took out a pole and power lines, cutting electricity to thousands. (Here’s our overnight/morning coverage.) Admiral Way has now reopened after a 14-hour closure to clean up the crash site – the pickup truck ended up at Aegis Living’s entrance – and replace the pole and lines. No serious injuries were reported. We don’t know the status of the driver, who was under investigation for DUI, but will follow up with police tomorrow. As readers have noticed, this is almost identical to an incident last September.

If tomorrow’s police update is short of this guy being in jail or at least charged with something, maybe a 4th of July Cersei-style walk of atonement from Aegis down to the Alaska Junction for this guy. Shame, dude. Shame.

Is there any info on the (possible) DUI driver who crashed in this same spot last year?  She also wound up in the Aegis courtyard, taking out a utility pole, causing power outages and closing Admiral for hours. Even if she wasn’t charged with DUI, was she cited for reckless driving?

Earlier I tried cross-referencing the SPD incident # in Muni Court, nothing came up. That may mean a felony prosecution, but without a name – county files don’t cross-reference law-enforcement agency incident #’s – no way to search for that.

My neighbor gets up everyday at 3am to water the flower bushes on the side of his house (that shares with mine). His phone alarm goes off at 255am and then he gives the bushes a quick rinse. (this used to bother me until I worked up the courage to ask him about it and I don’t agree with his reason but it was nice to learn something about him). His alarm didn’t go off last night and he missed a watering because of the power outage. He seemed okay with it but he was up at 7am checking on the bushes longer than normal.I was too scared to tell him about the crash but I know he reads WSB because we always show up at the same events that WSB lists in their rundowns. Maybe I’ll talk to him about it when he seems like he’s cooled off

This is a weird story. What is his reason? You can’t just leave us hanging man!

Agreed! What’s the scoop? And how come his phone alarm didn’t go off? Wouldn’t he have wifi?

Why is LA Fitness closed?  Sunday they were and signs were still up at 5:30am this morning.  The power was restored Sunday before they opened so I am confused.

No sign on the door? Nobody answering the phone?

There was a sign this morning that says closed due to power.  The same one that was on there yesterday. And when I call it just is in a loop. The app says closed due to power outage 7/2 8am to 7/3 5pm.  Which doesn’t make any sense since the power outage is over.

Sorry, comment time is over.
