WEST SEATTLE SCENE: West 5’s final days

Gary Potter (proprietor of longtime WSB sponsor Potter Construction) sent the photo, suggesting West 5 fans might need a reminder that the Junction restaurant/bar is about to close after 19 years. As reported here on January 31st, tomorrow (Saturday, February 12) is its last announced day/night. In the photo, from earlier this week, is, L-R, Gary with West Seattle Chamber of Commerce‘s board president Dawn Leverett, West 5 co-founder Dave Montoure, Josh Sutton from the Greater Seattle YMCA, and Todd Carden of Elliott Bay Brewing. If you’re planning to visit before it closes, hours are 11 am-10 pm.

It really is sad. I can’t believe what’s happened to this city or the past two decades

See ya.  Thanks for making room for those of us that believe in this place.  (to the grouches who fear change and not the businesses that couldnt figure out how to make it work).

Huge loss for our community…. Thanks for all of the years, West 5!

It’s funny to me that people are surprised great business’s in this town are closing up. Radical policies that have been voted on time and time again have killed small business in the great city.  You can’t be soft on crime and destructive homelessness,  then turn around and punish the very business’s that make our community great.Inflation, high labor wages, labor shortage, crime!

So sad to see this restaurant close. It is one of our favorite places to have a date night. Yummy food, fantastic menu,  great drinks,  fun, retro, non-pretentious, …please say it isn”t so.

Alas, a jewel of a bar was lost to Covid, I presume, but there is also a season for everything.  Thanks for the good times.

We were there on Thursday and it was packed. I’ve never seen it so busy. 30-45 minute wait. Warmed my heart to see our community show up. I am going to miss West 5 so damn much. Hurts a lot. We will miss you more than you know.
