WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Another window broken at Floors Plus NW; inflatable decorations stolen

Two reports in West Seattle Crime Watch:

ANOTHER BROKEN WINDOW: For the second time in a week and a half, Floors Plus Northwest in south Morgan Junction has been hit by a window-breaking vandal. From proprietors Luis and Liliana Morales:

We had another window broken in less than two weeks. Our cameras couldn’t get the face of the person doing this.

We received a call from the Seattle Police department at 3:59 am. … The place where we ordered the 1st window dropped the ball and hasn’t even placed the order for the 1st one. We are now looking to replace two as soon as possible.

They believe the person shown in their security images might have been in their store earlier in the day. That information and more images have been provided to police. (added Friday evening) They have boarded up both windows but want everyone to know their shop IS open, regular hours.

STOLEN DECORATIONS: From Tyler southwest of The Junction:

The two front lawn decorations in the picture were stolen last night. About-3-foot tall Darth Vader and Stormtooper. Happened after 11 pm @ 48th and Hudson. They unplugged each, pulled up stakes and took off. Who does this? So disappointing.

Liliana and Luis, I am so sorry this happened to you!! We think you’re just the greatest and spread that word to everyone we know who’s looking for flooring!

Thank you for all the moral support.  We truly appreciate it.  We are just trying to make a living like everyone else.  We have two kids to put through college and give them the opportunities we unfortunately didn’t have.  At this point we were recommended to protect the rest of the windows.  We had to board up everything. We will be operating our regular business hours.  Thank you for supporting us and spreading the word about our work.  Happy Holidays!

Liliana and Luis were excited to choose West Seattle for their new business. We were thrilled to have them here. One wonders now if they chose well. This senseless vandalism represents thousands of dollars of loss to a small business that is just getting started. The windows that remain are targets too, of course. They will need to be boarded up now for protection. There are too many deranged individuals roaming the streets and there are no deterrents of any kind to their destructive impulses. It is a shameful Seattle reality.

I had a small 3.5 ft inflatable tree stolen out of my front lawn Wednesday evening.  They were right in front of our windows while we were home and it was on camera but we just didn’t notice at the time it happened.  In our case, it was a couple middle school aged boys.  So frustrating and upsetting!

Sorry about your Holiday decorations, they looks so fun. This happened to us about 5 years ago, now we use pad locks on our lawn decorations. We literally have to tie everything down it is so sad.

Folks, we need to talk to our legislative bodies about law enforcement policies and cases. I’m sure this blog will report the countywide spike in stats across the board, and publish interviews as to immediate causes around prosecution and incaceration strategies, as well as the per capito ratio of policing to other metros nationwide.crime is complex, but I think we can correlate some causes to last year and a half.

Tyler, sorry to hear your decorations were stolen last night.  I saw them in your yard when I drove by last night and they made me smile. Hopefully these Grinch thieves get coal in their stockings for Xmas.

I am sorry to hear they stole your cool decorations.  This people have nothing better to do than destroy and steal peoples property.  Don’t let this looser ruin your Holiday.

Sorry, comment time is over.
