OUTAGE: Comcast trouble? It’s not just you

10:37 AM: Thanks for the tips. Multiple people have messaged us about a Comcast outage in Arbor Heights; checking the outage map, both 98136 and 98146 are identified as having outages with “51 to 500” customers affected; there’s a smaller outage (50 or less) in 98106 too. We’re checking with the company to see if they can tell us more.

3:37 PM: A Comcast spokesperson says there are “no systemic issues.” But the outages are still showing on the map.

Been having issues here in 98136 for the past few days. Spotty internet, sometimes getting kicked off during work hours. Curious what people think of Century Link’s fiber service, thinking of switching.

We just switched from Xfinity’s top service to Century Link fiber.  So far so good.  We had lots of mid-day issues with xfinity and it was always slow in the evening.  Century Link has been faster and far more reliable at all hours.

      Two more notes:

      – I left the Xfinity running for a month after we started with Century Link to ensure no disruption to our jobs (WFH).  I was curious, so in that time I would run continuous third party monitoring on both connections and Century Link averaged 1.5x speed with availability exceeding 99 where xfinity’s was 92

.- Century Link is $65, Xfinity was $225.

Century Link Prism TV service being cancelled in Arbor Heights effective 3/15/21.  No explanation why? from C Link, just notifying customers our last day is the 15th.

I am near 102nd and 42nd and although according to the Comcast Outage map, it says I have an outage, everything is working fine for me. Both internet and TV.

A few weeks ago we were having problems with Comcast 50th & Alaska.  After doing the re-boot about 1,000 times they finally came out on Sat. right before Superbowl Sunday.  My husband told the guy it started to give us trouble after he noticed that a Non City Tree Trimmer (could have been for another cable co) had gone down our alley trimming all the over growth.  He thought maybe they had nicked the line.  The Comcast guy was so nice.  He did ck first at our outside like next to the house and said he cleaned it up and spliced something into it as he said we had a very weak signal.  Then another Comcast guy checked the line up and down the Alley where they did find nicks in the line so he changed it out.  We now have perfect cable.

I don’t know if there is a connection but starting with our hook up to Century Link I all of a sudden started getting lots of phone calls from an unidentified caller or callers in which there is only silence. Then after about 10 seconds or so they hang up. I get several of those annoying calls everyday.

I had CL for decades.  No problems with service, but the customer service and indecipherable billing practices were constantly stressful.  A few years ago I qualified for the senior $9.95 Comcast internet package, which also included free cable installation.  I’ve had no problems at all, including today (I’m in Arbor Heights) and they’ve saved me a TON of money.  CL has no such program.  The only problem I’ve ever had is with Amazon Prime Video, and I think that’s an app problem, not Comcast.

I am on 42nd between Brandon and Finley (98136) and we switched to Century Link Fiber last week after having an outage the prior week on a Friday afternoon/evening with Comcast xfinity.  $65 for Century Link versus $101 xfinity monthly for us.  So far so good.  Much faster uploads and downloads.  Install went smoothly, and we were given a free modern/router.

If you switch to CenturyLink fiber it’s not that hard to keep using your own router if you like it.  You don’t have to use their equipment or rent it.  I can give you details if you want them.

I’ve been experiencing horrible internet over the past couple days. Internet pages won’t refresh, instagram messages won’t send, and the internet keeps dropping on our devices. Internet has been dropping and failing, super pissed. We live in Eastlake 98102.

Sorry, comment time is over.
