UPDATE: 5-hour West Seattle Junction power outage

8:21 AM: Thanks for the tip! Seattle City Light’s map shows power out since 5:30 am to 425 customers in The Junction. No cause listed yet; we are checking with SCL.

8:32 AM: Just drove through the area: One sign of outage, 42nd/Alaska signal is dark.

9:31 AM: The Senior Center of West Seattle is partially out.

10:44 AM: As noted by commenters and confirmed by the map, power’s back. Julie Moore of SCL tells WSB a crow apparently caused it.

We had a partial outage at 42nd and Oregon and it just became a complete outage. I had 2 outlets that worked and they just went out. So now nothing. Thanks for the updates.

Junction 47 Apartments in the Junction is without power. I can hear generators running, and only one light in my kitchen will turn on, no ceiling fans, no internet. No elevators, stairs only, but I could open underground garage door. The Starbucks downstairs (corner of California and Alaska) is closed with sign “due to power outage.” Street lights out at California and 42nd. Looks like many shops along street are dark. Email from our building managers at 8am said, “The Fire Department said that the alarm this morning could have been a chain reaction to another incident that happened across town about an hour before the alarm and power went out.”

Just heard a loud pop and saw a flash from a cable line at ~20:10 in the parking lot across from oregon 42/next to the AJ. Internet is out again, still have power.
