AIRCRAFT ALERT: Blue Angels jet visiting Monday

While we grapple with Viadoom on the ground tomorrow, there will be a summer-style sighting in the sky … the Blue Angels #7 jet flying a crew in for the annual Seafair midwinter visit. It’s an annual visit to plan the summer festival – no performances but in case you see/hear the jet on its way in to nearby Boeing Field (tentatively expected around 2 pm Monday), now you know. This year’s big Seafair weekend will be August 2nd-4th.

So, Federal workers are not getting paid, but the Blue Angels are flying around planning their entertainment schedule?  Bollocks.

The military budget is approved separately.  I don’t see the connection.Blue Angels are flown by active pilots who still need training time so it’s not really even an additional cost on top of the regular program.  Personally I have no problem with peaceful use of fighter jets, air shows are really the best possible application of an F-18.

It is only a partial government shutdown. There are some agencies that remain funded and have been working as usual. If you want to complain about money spent during the shutdown, look to the Interior department which continued holding meetings to decommission federal lands to allow drilling despite the fact those meetings are supposed to be public and nobody at the department was answering phones or advertising the time and location of the meeting or even that it was still happening.

    I totally agree with Anonyme.

Probably would have been cheaper to fly first class from Florida than to use a fighter jet as a taxi.

The Blue Angeles have outlived their welcome. Their carbon footprint, cost to taxpayers, traffic impact and noise pollution translate to the end of a tradition that no longer fits our priorities.

You don’t like the sound of freedom?

Me too! I love the Blue Angels!

The Blue Angel’s never wear out their welcome. It is the highlight of Seafair each year. I watch their shows every day at Seafair and I never get tired of it. Same with the thousands of people that line the floating bridge and Lake Washington every year enjoying their show.

      I totally agree JL.

    I hope they come often.

    Love the Angels!

No, they have outlived their welcone to you JL. It is clear the vast majority of people here welcome them and accept the 3 day inconvenience in the summer. The reasons you make for why they shouldn’t be here are the usual cover for just not liking the military

JL really your comment makes me sad

Oh great… more noise pollution. Blue angels you aren’t welcome here until you upgrade your engines to quieter ones.  And as a prior military I’ve seen the quieter engines and planes. They work really well!!!

Sorry, comment time is over.
