TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Thursday updates

(Click any view for a close-up; more cameras on the WSB Traffic page)

7:23 AM: No incidents so far in or from West Seattle. As of right now, though, some of the regular SDOT cameras are stuck on earlier views – we’re checking to see if the others are being worked on.

7:36 AM: Fixed now, SDOT confirms. And since it’s still quiet:

TRANSPORTATION NEWS: Last night we reported on the changes in the works for the Fauntleroy/Endolyne Triangle … if you’re interested in light rail to West Seattle, the WS Transportation Coalition‘s survey remains open, looking for specific local opinions on route preference.

Speaking of traffic cams, does SDOT ever plan to replace the one at mid-span that has been MIA since the “upgrade”?

CB: if you drill deep enough on SDOT’s page you can find that mid-span camera I believe you are talking about. HOWEVER, it seems to be set up in a way to make linking to it like WSB or Seacam not possible (I suspect). It is a camera icon with a ‘+’ that has 2 images attached to the one link. http://web6.seattle.gov/travelers/SDOT’s camera placement plan mystifies me. They could have nearly 100% covered the stretch from Fauntleroy to I-5 with 5-6 well-placed cameras but instead we have several awkwardly-positioned fields of view that you have to infer heavily as to what is going on. They have some nice hi-res videos you can watch!

Sorry, comment time is over.
