West Seattle holidays: Carolers needed for a surprise gift!

Can you spare some time – and your voice – for some special holiday cheer? At 4:30 pm Wednesday, carolers are gathering in the 3600 block of 48th Ave. SW – just west of Madison Middle School – to surprise a neighborhood resident who we are told is very ill and receiving home-based hospice care. We’re also told he’s a retired police officer who “loves Christmas.” His friend Marcia is organizing this and says, “It would just take a few minutes and would be a chance to give back to someone willing to give all.”

Darn, we can’t make it, but what a lovely, thoughtful idea!

My husband and I could do this…a more specific address would be helpful.

Sheila – I am specifically not publishing the exact address for privacy reasons – the information comes from a third party and we don’t publish full names/addresses/phone numbers in third-party situations unless we are able to directly confirm with the person whose address/name/etc. we’re publishing, since our site reaches a six-digit audience and indexes quickly and highly in search engines. So I asked the organizer if there was a corner where people could meet, or something, and she said the 3600 block of 48th SW would work well.

I am hesitant to put the full address. It is in the 3600 block of 48th. There will be an orange cone on the front lawn. Thank you all for your kindness. He deserves it!

Marcia, this is such a beautiful thing to do for your neighbor! I am going to try to make it.

Marcia and WSB, thanks! An ‘orange cone’ is a good sign so we’ll come and join the fun. Should be there a little before 4:30, ready to join this ad hoc Christmas chorus!

I’m in! What a lovely idea and I’m happy to participate. I can’t sing worth beans, so hopefully there will be plenty of other people to drown me out!

I love this so so much. This is what life and community are all about. I won’t be able to attend but send wishes to your friends and the participants to enjoy a fun and spiritual afternoon of spontaneous Christmas caroling!

    How did it go?

    • WSB December 16, 2015 (6:32 pm)

Working on the story right now. Patrick counted unofficially at least 25 people. Marcia said her friend was very touched.

Harold told us, through moist eyes, that “This means more to me than you will
    know.”

Sorry, comment time is over.
